I'm dying to know the results of Beauty's DNA test. I'm still going with Friesian/Saddlebred cross, but the more I look at him, the more Saddlebred-y he looks to me. No matter what he is, he is MAGNIFICENT. Whoever ends up adopting him will be very lucky.

That was my guess as well. If there is Frisian I was thinking definitely saddlebred in there at the top of the list!

I think there is definitely something Iberian in him (which includes Friesian, as they are also basically an Iberian cross). We will have to be good and wait and see. But I agree about the cross with something gaited.

@@SandraOrtmann1976 Except in the video, when they released him, he trotted away. Nice long trot stride too. Didn't look gaited to me. Also his tail carriage was way higher than Friesian, looking almost like an Arab. But I'm still thinking Saddlebred/Friesian cross, with him taking more after his Saddlebred parent, but picking up the black of the Friesian. :)

Wonderful episode! So nice to see Troy stepping up. The horse he was riding looked amazing! So glad Fiesta is doing good so far. I really hope she will heal completely quickly. Black Beauty sure is stunning - no matter the breed. I hope Sir Galahad will be ok, too. So sweet you went to the High School! It’s so important to educate children. When giving intranasal strangles, you really should be holding that head up for a minute or so… and if it is a live vaccine, I’d be washing my hands and changing my clothes after handling it and especially before touching other horses. Maybe (hopefully??) you did… but didn’t appear so. Troy seems like a good fit.

I would highly recommend potty training the mini’s you plan on using for school programs. It’s very easy to do with positive reenforcement training, they are the only other animal in the USA allowed to be service animals in the USA besides dogs partly because of that.

You will be a breath of fresh air in Washington! Go for it! You have already facilitated and encouraged cooperative action by other rescues, uniting the voices of them and all their supporters to speak for the animals of all species who need protection. They didn't mention in the episode that DNA tests for breeds are not an exact science. It won't be able to say he is half-Friesian half whatever. There is a "map" provided by the company that does the DNA test that explains how to read the results. It is really interesting and can provide insight into his geneology, but it doesn't provide an exact answer. And MANY gaited horses have insane manes, like MFT or TWH. A horse doesn't need to be Friesian to have hair like that.

Good luck with the cat. He looks like a house cat, not a typical barn cat. Not all cats are mousers. (some hunt snakes, and some catch birds) .

Tawnee and Jason, if "a tree is known by the fruit that it bears", then you two are pretty freakin' awesome! May God bless your efforts always. That beautiful black you've got? He's definitely a Friesian cross. I once owned a beautiful cross myself only he was all white (: Z Blanco Norsk was his name and when I put some little videos on youtube just to fool around, I got so many nasty people saying he wasn't Friesian even after I explained that UCDavis did a DNA study on him, his sire and his dam due to his unusual color (maximum expression sabino). Then as now, he is registered through the Friesian Heritage Association. I wonder if your beauty is Friesian/Saddlebred cross?? That's my guess - just for fun :D Can't wait to see the results!!

I had my adopted spotted saddle horse DNA tested. #1 Paso Fino, #2 Saddlebred, #3 Brazillian Pony breeds. He's a stocky 14hh gaited pony. Totally worth $25 @ TAMU.

Does the Friesian have microchip? My gelding was stolen and I can't find him. Small spot of white hairs behind left ear from his neck sleezy rubbing when he was a silly baby😢

Kick butt in DC, Tawnee! The laws must be changed in many states like Tennessee where crippled/starving horses are shipped to slaughter and a PUBLIC auction is allowed to keep you out. I go with the Friesian cross, but I am betting significant amount of Arabian.

I think that awareness for kids to work with animals needs to grow world wide. Could you image how much more compassionate people would be. We need alot more kindness love and compassion and it would be awesome to start with this generation.. I hope you get lots of kids volunteering from this event. I cant wait to hear what the DNA results are! 😊❤

Friesian seems doubtful to me. They are heavier boned with big feet and lots of feathers on the legs. Possibly a mix but my guess would be primarily saddlebred.

I love watching the Christmas Drive, it 's a favorite. I wish Black Beauty could stay with HPHS or one of the staff adopt him. He is a magnificent. And then there is poor Fiesta who we should all pray for a speed recovery. I hope the new blue light machine works fast. Whoever did the braids on Fiesta they are so adorable. There are plenty of horses out there that have really long manes that aren't Friesian at. Ever see an Andalusian horse, or a Lipizzaner? Gated with long manes.

I phoned in days ago and left a voice mail message regarding the possibility of him being a Georgian Grande. A fressian crossed with an American saddle horse to develope a more traditional saddle horse. There was a young one at the barn was at; she was a big 2 yr old and a real sweetie.

If you have a small tree or fake tree use an outdoor umbrella stand. It is weighted so it isn’t easy to tip over.

That was a great episode. So much going on. I think black beauty is a frieson cross, that beautiful name... maybe crossed with Arabian. Is he with other horse's because he looked like he was by himself at pasture. Looks like fiesta wounds are looking a little better. 21:24 I worked with animals for years, sadly quitting was the best thing I did for my mental health. We need more people willing to work with animals, but we also need to take care of the ones we have. That includes paying a living wage and facilitating a work life balance. We REALLY need to take care of our Vets and Vet techs!! *This is not directed at Horse Plus, but the veterinary world and the animal field in general.

❤ What an amazing episode guys. So much happening. I’m so pleased the 60 days are up so that those beautiful babies can find their forever homes. That’ll take a lot of pressure off your finances bless you. It’ll also make space for more equines to be rescued. ❤ The school eduction program is simply incredible, it’ll not only teach kids about rescue but also teach them about what is happening to horses in America when they enter the slaughter pipeline. It’ll awaken the empathy in the next generation and gather more voices to make changes in the current laws. Speaking of which, well done Tawnee, you’re doing amazingly in going to these conferences to make changes, your voice is so powerful, my voice is right with you, as is my heart and soul.
