I am a child survivor of a vicious dog mauling. 🐕 I was three years old. I was blessed that I was rescued by a Collie Dog from down the street. I found myself laying under two dogs fighting it was really bad. I herd a Angelic voice telling me to roll over & crawl out from under the dogs. It was very difficult but I did it! My Dad came running over swooped me up & rushed me to the hospital. I am 66 yrs old now & still remember that day like it was yesterday. I grew up with Animals all my life & worked for HHS in Kansas as Kennel Supervisor. When it comes to aggressive dogs that have attacked & bitten people. Giving them the last act of kindness is the Responsible thing to do!! It's the right thing to do For everyone involved!! So sorry, you had to let one of your employees go for drug addiction! Hopefully she will get some help, my prayers go out for her 🙏 God Bless you all! Stay safe!!

I'm so happy you survived that attack! I was also attacked by a German Shepherd as a child. I used to play with the dog almost every day. I was 5 at the time. I was also fascinated by horses. I put my right leg up as if to ride him. I never put my leg on his back. He spun around so fast and grabbed my in the face twice. I screamed and the lady who owned him ran outside and picked me up and carried me home. I still remember that day like it was yesterday as well. We lived 40 miles away from a hospital. My parents drove well above the speed limit that day. He missed my jugular vein by a quarter of an inch. I was bitten severely overall. I still have scars though they've faded over the years. I will never forget his mouthful of teeth grabbing me. What I didn't know but learned much later was he was a guard dog in our small town gas station. He had attacked a pregnant woman a few weeks prior to his attack on me. The owner's husband would mess with the locals by letting the dog out and let him chase them back their cars. In the end the owners paid no real price for their negligence. He should never been running free and playing with children. He was removed by a sheep farmer for killing lambs. Funny thing is I'm not afraid of dogs but had a healthy respect for them especially strange dogs I don't know.

@@jules8299 HI Jules, Thank you for sharing your experience! I still have scares too but I pretty much am the only one that knows where they are. I was lucky I was able to cover my face but he was trying to get to my face. The Shepherd that attacked Me was a Gaurd dog imported from Germany,! He belonged to one of our neighbors across the street. He. Was feared by everyone in the neighborhood. The Garbage men collecting the garage every week had to use pitch forks to keep him from coming over the fence after them when dumping the garage cans in the alley! The owner would knock on everybody's doors at ten pm & tell them to get their children & pets in because he was going to let his dog out to run. That was 1960! Two weeks after my attack, a five yr old boy was attacked. His family owned the Collie that saved me! That dog went through a screen door when I got attacked. That same Collie went through the single plate glass window in the living room to save him, because their front door was shut, because they hadn't replaced the screen door since my attack. Again, there was another vicious dog fight. THE Sheriff's were called but this time one of the Sheriff's, Shot the Black Shepherd & killed him! Thank God! The Devil Dog was done! I always thought the Collie should have been given. A K9 Hero Award. I don't know if they did that sort of thing back then. He is one of my Hero's! I understood, even at three yrs of age that there was good & bad in everything. We had lots of animals growing up & beyond. I didn't fear dogs but like you said, I gained a deep respect for them. When I saw the Black German Shepherd balancing on top of the fence slobbering & our eyes met. I knew he had every intention of killing me & I was going to be his lunch! I would have been if it wasn't for Devine intervention, sending the Collie to disrupt his plans. I believe that experience plus many other animal incounters heightened my sence too read body language, eye expression & keep myself calm, peaceful & my mind open to feelings, theirs & mine! I guess there is something that deeply touches your whole being, mind, body & soul, after being attacked, bit, chewed on, shook & beaten on the ground. You either have fear & anger or you forgive & respect their personal space & hope they respect ours in turn. I try to send out vibes of peace & kindness. I do not rush to be friends. I Peacefully ignore them but still stay very much aware of them & what they are doing & how they are behaving. It's basically up to them, to send the right signals & us to respectfully pay attention! I have had a few encounters since, with other dogs that made the hair raise up & that roller coaster feeling in my gut. The Alarming feeling I felt way back then. Thank God it's far & few between. I am so glad you shared your experience & survived your attack & have a strong awareness! Reading your story & comparing it to mine It reminds me, that certain people do bad mean things to dogs, training dogs to be aggressive! So I don't blame the dog as much as I do the owners! I Haven't met very many Children Survivors of Animal Attacks! Welcome to the Survivors Club! 😆 God Bless You! Take Care! I too was blessed to grow up with horses 🐎!

At around Minute 31:00 or so---I was HUGELY relieved when you addressed the weird energy and abnormal behavior of your employee that went on the aggressive dog call. Even before you said one word, I was viewing her as the film showed and getting an extremely OFF vibe from that lady. I'm sorry she's got an addiction problem---this showcases another huge problem in Tennessee (as well as many areas of our country). My older sister lives in Tennessee and works at a Recovery Home for women attempting to get off of drugs and straighten out their lives. The neglect begins from the roots up in the human community, which is why it's so rampant within the animal ownership. You made the right call for that poor dog---and for this staff member who needs to seek help. Bless all of you and my prayers are with you all.

Interesting idea! That amazing mane could definitely have come from Friesian genes as well, but his feet are too small for a pure Friesian, he doesn't have feathers, and I believe pure Friesians never have white markings, while Black Beauty has that white coronet on the near fore. Perhaps when he gains more condition his breeding will be clearer?

I've worked with Friesians a lot over the years, I'm 100% confident in saying that gorgeous boy is a Friesian cross. I couldn't say what with, his build is a bit too lean to be pure Friesian (even if he had more weight on him) not to mention lack of feathers, so perhaps he's been crossed with a saddle bred but I don't know much about those to be able to say for sure. Regardless, he's just stunning and I'm sure with some TLC and training he'll make a fantastic horse for someone

@@Polopony20. No, another black horse. Can’t remember the time stamp but it’s one of the ones they said they were going to euthanize. The only reasons they stated for euthanasia is fly eggs and lacerations. Those two things alone aren’t enough to end the life of an animal. There’s a difference between not being able to hold weight and not having the proper nutrition. They didn’t even give the poor mare a chance. Nor did they give the poor mare with wraps around her back legs a chance.

Beautifully written, you took the words out of my mouth. Loving your animals means truly loving them enough to not allow them to suffer. It’s the most beautiful gift you can give to your fur baby, a respectful, peaceful and gentle death. It’s horrendous to let them continue suffering for your own desire to keep them with you. I know how heartbreaking it is to let them go but if there’s no reprieve from pain or sickness, their lives are just miserable. I agree. I have a friend who has a senior dog that is suffering from CHF and other issues and keeps collapsing and struggling to breath and the vet said there's nothing more that can be done, but she won't let go. I had 2 cats for 18 years, since I was 9 years old, so I know how it is to grow up with pets as part of your family. But when the vet said it was time for each of them, my family didn't want them to go on for even one more night with them if it meant they'd be suffering. So we let the vet go ahead and give euthanasian on the spot. We knew they were so scared of car rides even that we didn't want to put them through that again either just to spend a last night with them. It's kind of hard for me to understand these people that supposedly love their pets but can let them suffer for their own sake. I'd find that way more painful to watch an innocent animal suffering. It seems very selfish to me.

I had my little cat, Anna, for more than 15 years when she got sick. I took her to the vet, she treated her, and Anna was well again. She was fine for a few months, but again, she was ill. The next day, the vet drained 125 mls of fluid from around Anna's lungs. Once again, my baby girl was running and playing, and my wonderful vet said it could be months, or never that fluid would build up. When I brought Anna home that day, I held her close and told her I would never let her suffer. The next morning, at 5:30, Anna woke me to get some breakfast for her. I saw she was having a little trouble breathing and at 8:00 am, I called the vet and made Anna's last appointment with her. At 11:30 am, I took Anna in, and we sent her home. That was January 12, 2023. I heard Anna purr that day and I told the vet, Dr. G. She said cats do that to comfort themselves. I told her, Anna did that to comfort me. That was only the third time I heard my baby girl purr in the 15 years I had with her. I will never forget her, and I will never regret my decision. When I brought Anna in for that last visit, Dr. G. said she was full of fluid again. I've missed Anna every day. I loved her enough to let her go. 😢😢😢

She’ll be in my prayers. I feel like that horse has Friesian blood in him. It may be just 1/4 but it’s definitely in his DNA. If I could afford it I would donate a DNA test for him. Keep up the great work and enjoy your vacation. Y’all need it!!

With the shape of his ears and shoulder build, I would agree that Black Beauty has some Friesian. If he's older than 3 he should have a sturdier build - unless he's crossed with Arabian? It will be neat watching him fill out more while you have him, he's such a nice horse! ❤

RN here. I noticed her body language from the first time I saw her on video, and asked myself if she was using. But, of course, some brain injuries can affect that way also, so I settled with that conclusion. A minor brain injury does not stop anyone from being a great worker. At least now You know, and You made the right decision for the safety of both her, her coworkers and all the animals.

Hopefully it’s a wake up call for her and she can get help. I think they had to post about her because otherwise they would have had to not show the dog rescue. As someone in recovery I think this was dealt with appropriately and with respect for both the employee and the animals. Being on this channel is a lot less damaging then having a criminal record. Being open and honest about addiction is how we can hopefully one day change the stigma.

I think that horse is Friesian cross if anything. My sister had a friesian gelding. Their legs are much stockier. They are usually 15 to 16 hh. I've never seen one with any white markings other than a tiny star. Very beautiful horse regardless.

Congrats, Jilly! I thought for sure Lyric was going to adopt her. Lol. I noticed Dawn acting oddly as well a few times in the past. But this time, it was clear she was partly the reason the aggressive dog was so hard to catch. That can be even more dangerous. Sad to see her go but hope she can get help and recover. You did save that dog from being shot and gave him dignity and kindness in the end. That is saving him. And you do save horses that otherwise would have died a horrific death. That's important. And black beauty is beautiful. Just ignore all the haters and trolls. You all do amazing work .

About the half Friesian horse, you did get all of those knots out and to “save” the rest of his mane you should have braided it up until he gets adopted. There are several styles of braids that you can do, it doesn’t need to take a long time to braid it up.

A full episode of a little of alot with good results for all even if difficult with a couple. But the best part with those result from the best thought through decisions. Plz continue to let those negative comments not stay within as you don't need or want such negative dark energy. As long as your heart and clear thinking remain your decisions and choices will be good ones through the process. Hands on the black horse was a great break for you with a bit of horse therapy for you both. Keep on keepin on with your passion and calling. Thx as always for sharing.

I'm a retired dog trainer, and was the go to girl for all the aggressive dogs. I do not envy any shelter who takes in a dog with a bite history, and don't blame them for ending it all for the animal. In my entire career I recommended euth for 4 dogs in 35 years. They were truly beyond training, and I believe they had something neurological going on. The rest, it could take months of work. I almost always had a dog with a bite history in my home pets, trained up very well, and still took precautions with them. If you get that property in FL, I'll be happy to be your off season property guardian, as long as I can still live there over the winter. I can't do too much with animals anymore, just one too many injuries, but I'm a great guardian.

Tawnee, so thankful you are addressing these issues. You mentioned about the "thrown away kittens" that someone found. I have a rescue puppy, she's a "Pitador Retriever". Her name is Hope. Someone was irresponsible and didn't have their female spade. She had a litter of puppies. They found homes for some of the puppies, but there were 3 females left. Hope is the runt. Instead of taking the puppies to the pound, they zipped them into a suitcase in August, and dumped them on the side of the road, with Mama running free next to the suitcase. Fortunately, someone driving by on that country road, saw the suitcase and it moved. The smallest puppy (Hope) was already the size of a beagle. I can't even imagine....She heard squeaky toys for the longest time and thought a puppy was stuck inside. She'd cry and tear into the toy, not to play, but to save. We still have a ways to go, but she's a sweetheart and keeps me company. I almost took she and her one remaining sister, but the sister shot me a look that said she was probably more than I could handle. I really hope and pray she's got a good home now. Hope has a white heart on the back of her neck. I appreciate all of you there, your efforts and all that you do. I have seen a few other rescues, but some of the people are "showy and dramatic" and it stops me from watching. Everyone where you are, they truly care about the horses, the animals. I hope you are able to enjoy a much deserved vacation. How awesome! God bless and be with you all. Happy Thanksgiving! Hugs!!!

On the question on the Frisian - back in the early 2000’s, many Frisian’s were crossbred with Morgan’s for coaching, pleasure & combined driving. They would have the size & looks of the Frisian’s with a more refined look obtained from the Morgan. There bone would not be as heavy, I personally don’t think they had the muscle & feathering on the legs was greatly diminished. I drove Norwegian Fjords, & had I bred my mares with anything other than a purebred Fjord, the mares would have been basically blacklisted. The offspring could not be registered. If a stud were put with any other bred the same would occur & he could not service another fjord mare & if he did, that offspring was not able to be registered. I don’t get why folks would invest in a purebred & then start playing with genetics, by crossing with another breed. Many of the older breeds have stud books that go back centuries & the horses go through testing to ensure that only the best carry on the quality that is the breed standard. I do hope this horse does find a good home, but agree that these older breeds should not be messed with by crossing them with another breed.
