I'm completely addicted to watching the blues & royals (& life guards) at Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall. To see them enjoying their self's on the sand n sea is just WONDERFUL! ❤ bless them all!

They’re just like big kids - some of them can’t stop rolling and it’s so glorious to see their fellow troopers letting them get as messy as they want compared to their usual glamorous appearance. It’s so funny when some of the human troopers are getting pulled around on the reins while they roll….. it’s reminiscent of big dogs who take their owners for a walk…. 😂 Made me chuckle. There’s no working horses in this country, better loved and better taken care of than the HCav horses. Yes, they work and get pampered as part of that - but they have more days off than days working and their life behind the scenes is one of fun, frolicking and just being horses. Which is why you get such a wonderful mix of horsey characters at HCav too - they’re all being allowed to retain their personalities because they’re not trying to be turned into something they’re not. HCav is full of a mix of cheeky, gentle, naughty, cautious, playful, quiet, boisterous, thoughtful, silly, patient, moody, eager, lazy, calm and dramatic horses and it’s all their characters that make the regiment so unique. The human troopers don’t try to change the horses personalities and allow them to be individual while all being given the same training for when they’re on duty. It also shows at times like when some dumb tourist gets nipped or pushed - it’s always the tourists fault and never the horses. The horses aren’t reprimanded for being horses. And that’s what stands out the most and why I and I’m sure many others, have a lot of respect for this regiment. I hope the humans had as much fun as the horses on their seaside holiday. ❤

It's so good to see these regal and hard working animals plainly enjoying themselves after the disciplines of Horseguards and formal parades. They can come and roll around on my beach anytime they choose!

And some people try to claim that the horses are mistreated! These are beautiful animals having the time of their life on their holiday from duties, They even take the vet van out with them while they relax in the sand and later gallop in the water. Amazing site to see and I'm not a horse rider or even involved with horses in any way.

I remember been at the royal mews in London when they returned from their holiday to Norfolk they were so well groomed and arrived in style. We watched as they came out of the horse carrier, beautiful animals, it truly was a treat to see them. How lovely that they had this fun.

Reminds me of the wonderful videos of rescued elephants enjoying rolling in sand, dirt, and mud and then bathing in a river. All of these beloved creatures enjoying life!

Love watching the horses on the beach.

This brings back memories of my Hanoverian gelding. Just like the horses roll in the sand, he always did that in the shallow parts of the river when we went swimming. This was his favorite activity from spring to fall. SHANDOR, I will never forget you. And of course I am happy about the freedom and reactions of these wonderful military horses. I can't get enough of The Household Cavalry & the beautiful horses. Nice to see the horses relax. Not an easy life working in London. The music is so annoying.

Horses love this, it's indicative of good spinal flexibility if they can do 180 degree roll from side to side instead of just 90 1 side at a time.I hope the guys mounting them without saddles can stay on, as horses like to buck at the beach and these soldiers are not usually experienced riders when they are assigned to the Cavalry. Most of these horses look very kindly and safe, but it would be better to lead them home / back to truck instead of getting on them bareback when their spines have just been relaxed, and they have to carry so much on their other working days .
