I enjoyed viewing your video about Horwin EK3. I had a trial test last month which was great in fact I ordered one two weeks ago and just today the motor shop delivered it to me. The colour is White (as there were only 3 colours to choose from the RED/BLACK/WHITE) and i ordered an extra saddlebag (black col) to go with it and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed as they removed the Horwin rear solid carrier to install the box. (not sure if it was possible to leave the Horwin handle and install the box as well). I paid the same price for it that you showed us which is €4500 but the difference is that our Maltese Government gives us a subsidy allowance of €2000 which I will get back within 7 months. Thank you for your great feature and take care

I am wondering how the LTO can reclassify electric motorcycles with regards to which will be allowed on the expressways of Luzon. For the electric motorcycles themselves, I am rooting for the companies to make priority advancements in the charging time aspect and if we can reliably charge using the normal household sockets for the shortest time possible. I am not really asking for more power from electric big bikes. The charging convenience comes first then the range is second then the overall power potential.

Range really is the only issue with e-bikes. It's perfect for city rides, but what will you do when you have to go to the province in an emergency? I know companies might be averse to this, but I wish there was a way to standardize batteries in size, format, capacity so that when you're running out of charge, you can go to the nearest battery/gas station, drop your battery and exchange it for a full one and go your way instead of having to wait for stretches of time.
@ManCannotRide
@ManCannotRide Жыл бұрын
I think other countries already have that infrastructure in place. You can just drop-in your drained battery for a new one but with some service fee. One possible issue I see happening with that setup here is that you might end up swapping for a "lemon" battery, or a tampered one, or a unit abused by the previous user. Maybe manufacturers could put up a lot of authorized stalls that will check the integrity of the battery before swapping out a new one.

If I remember correctly, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM and Piaggio have an agreement to use the same batteries for their e-bikes/e-motorcycles.

This could be a good business idea, and manufacturers may be more inclined to standardize if one type of battery is more supported than others.

If not for the price, this could've been a real winner for daily commute. I also understand how Jino is running out of words to say, we feel the same on how likeable this scooter is. It's just that for the price it asks, I'd rather get myself an ADV150/160 and still be decently economical.

Hello Sir. Really enjoyed your review. Regarding what you said about charging at home and therefore just using coal from power plants indirectly, I agree. However, not with some things you have to consider that makes this scooter option better than the gas-powered ones. First, you said that the problem with this scooter was where to charge it. You are right, the Philippines still lacks the apparent infrastructure for vehicles like this, and I think that's fine. Because if people begin to gravitate and patronize this products, the government or some wealthy businessmen will begin to build business models on how to capitalize the situation. Gas Stations weren't built before cars came to the Philippines. People began building Gas Stations because somebody thought it will profitable, and I believe it will be the same for this case. Two, regarding indirectly burning coal or gasoline while charging it, that is absolutely true. However, you have to think about efficiency. When a regular gas-powered motorcycle burns fuel, most engines only have around 23-25% overall efficiency. That means per 1 Liter of fuel, around only 8 ounces of fuel turns your wheels. Compare this when you charge at home, Diesel Power Plants have an overall efficiency of around 45%, while Coal-Fired Power Plants have around 38%. Add the factor of Transmission Losses of electricity from the power plant to your house of around 12%, then we can see that charging at home using Coal-Fired and Diesel-Powered Electricity is 13-20% better in terms of efficiency. In simpler terms, in every liter of Diesel burned, at least 13 ounces was used to turn your wheels, gaining 5 more ounces. More fuel transmitted to the wheels, means lesser carbon emission. One thing I have to totally agree with you with would be the price. Lithium-Ion still has ways to go as the primary battery solution, it's expensive and a much less the safer one. But this pushes the envelope for engineers and scientists to find better ones. I believe the Sodium-Ion Batteries has already entered production last month. Way lighter, less power but cheaper and does not burst into flames when in contact with water and when it gets hot. Looking forward to that.

Looks like a Gogoro Clone, not a bad thing. But they could have used the money they save on design and made the price a little bit more sharp & competitive.

The energy mix in PH varies in region. For example, in visayas, our energy source are coal, geothermal and hydro. Moreover, coal power plants providing electricity to bikes and cars are usually more efficient in power to emission ratio. BUT Batery production is horrendously bad for the environment. That is where the ROI in terms of finance and the environment should be primarily measured.

It may not save the planet but it can lessen the pollution in your area. Charge it overnight in your home and because it is electric there is low maintenance because it has no engine you only need to replace the battery.

battery technology needs to evolve quite a bit and then there will be no reason to buy a vehicle with a combustion engine anymore. until then there should be a loading infrastracture in place that only has renewable energy.

The e scoot that jay r cambaog (owner Keso performance parts) is much more practical choice. Cheaper, a lot heck faster( top speed of 140+ if upgraded) and can be modified and has parts. This horwin is too expensive for its specs and looks. Just saying. More power, beyond the ride!

the goal is not zero emission. coz there is no such thing. the goal is to lessen it to at the very least half. electric does that. the greatest question is... is it really cheaper? and the only people who knew if this is true are the people who are using gasoline engine before and tried EK3. coz I don't know how much is the cost of a new battery. but I'm pretty sure it is at the same price range of a game console. every 3 yrs? I guess compare to your 3yrs of gasoline expenses. which one is cheaper? Electric vehicle have an advantage really if they successfully market them to genZ coz they are the generation of people who cant get out without a phone or laptop with internet connection. with Electric vehicle you can literally plug in an LTE router there and get high speed internet on the go (instead of subscribing a mobile network). you can charge your phone too.
