We are to be assured that God will never disown us if we have truly become His children through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If we claim to be Christians and yet live as if we are not, we may not have a true relationship with God. God is all about relationship, not ritual or religion. One's eternal security is too important to leave to chance. No one is 'good enough' for Heaven, and Jesus Himself said that He is THE way, the truth, and the life, and NO ONE comes to the Father except through Him [Jesus] (John 14:6). Some may choose not to believe that, but I, for one, would never take that risk. While we're not going to be perfect, this side of Heaven, we can pay attention to our thoughts, our words (written and spoken), and our actions, and that will let us know whether or not we truly have a relationship with Jesus Christ. If you seldom think of Him, seldom speak of Him, seldom pray, seldom spend time in the Word, I'd be heading to the Cross. You know your heart, and so does God. Make sure this passage in Matthew 7 will never apply to you: "21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you!
