😲 Tremendous professionalism on both accounts; both for Jungkook’s stage awareness and quick thinking as well as Jimin’s perseverance and endurance. Let’s talk about Jimin for a second... In terms of choreography, this is the hardest drop in the entire song. If the monitor pack were to disconnect at any moment, it would be here. At 0:46 you can see the pack yank away downwards from Jimin’s in-ears, ripping out his right earpiece with the force of the landing. This is comparable to your earbuds getting caught on a doorknob, but straight down. That’s painful! 😣 At 1:08 you can see as Jimin is thrown off balance, reaches his hand to his right ear, and looks slightly panicked or concerned (understandably, because ouch!) but quickly recovers his center. All things considered, he hides the pain and shock very well. You can barely notice that anything went wrong. Jimin disguises all of this in the flow of the choreography. Amazing! Now, why are in-ear monitors so important? Sound gets extremely distorted in large spaces like this stadium; the sound reverberates off of every surface and comes back to the performer as a jumbled mess, and this is amplified by having a large, screaming audience singing along. It’s extremely difficult to perform when you can’t hear your music properly. In-ear monitors are there to keep the performer in synch with their own music. I’m not exactly sure how these monitors work, but I’d assume that from the point the pack disconnects, Jimin no longer has any connection, as the in-ears are not wireless (in this situation in such a big space with so much movement and so many members, wireless in-ears are just not feasible). Suddenly, Jimin can no longer rely on sound because it is now so distorted to him on stage, and now must completely focus on watching the members exactly for flow, rhythm, and timing. Because of the angle it is a bit easier to see from 2:04 and on that he is not quite as in sync as the rest of the members. But because of how well Jimin handles this, it’s practically invisible to the live audience. The more I watch this, the more I am in awe of Jimin’s outstanding performance in spite of having his in-ear monitors forcefully ripped from his ear. What incredible professionalism! Jimin is amazing! 💜 Source: I have been a dance and music performer (ballet, marching band, band, orchestra, and choir) for over a decade and have some stage technician experience. Jimin definitely got lucky; right after it fell, he was in the back so he could watch the others and match his timing. You can see that he kind of falls behind a little, but after taking his in ear piece out, he jumps right back onto the beat. Literally such high levels of professionalism here. It's so bad for performers to have their device fall out but you could barely notice what happened
