yeah, prob because it SEEMED like it was goig to be a movie abot the child and her gift and then something, but it was more about the custody etc. it really wasn't like a smart person movie it was more a child custody whats the best interest movie. Still thought it was good tho

This is such a spectacular way of driving the message home. If Frank had just told her, "you were loved. We were so happy when you were born" it would not have made as much sense to her. He demonstrated. He showed her with an example. He created a new memory in the process so she will always remember it, and more importantly, she will always BELIEVE him when he tells her that she is wanted and loved. Beautiful scene. Brilliantly played by Evans and Grace.

This was the most delicate and beautiful scene in the movie. It takes you by surprise and then hits you over the head with it's emotion.

You have to have a big heart to write and direct a scene like this. Also, a bit of imagination. It shows Mary's emotional humanity, and Frank's emotional intelligence (which he never admitted to).

One of the best scenes in any movie ever made. Truly original and so well acted it was almost painful at the same time that it was uplifting. The little girl was priceless. Her performance of going from not expecting anything to comprehension of what her birth meant to the people who loved her was so well done. Also the kind of defining moment in a person's life that molds them into becoming a much better human being. Which was really the whole purpose behind the way he was raising her. Couldn't help but think, "Job well done, sir."

One of my favourite films and, my favourite scene within, where there is very little dialogue but the tension and anticipation are palpable until the whole scene explodes into one of joy and delight at receiving the news from an elated father of a new life having entered into the world. I was present at the births of all four of my children. I don't recall who else was there besides their mother and the doctors, though grandparents and, for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, older sibing(s), were soon involved. We did Lamaze "natural" coached childbirth. With the 4th, who'll be 40 next February, we also were able to do a modified LeBoyer birth, involving warm water, low lights, warm, quiet delivery room, and immediate rest of our son on his mother's breast and tummy. After just a few minutes I was given him to hold. Who says newborns can't focus? I had talked to all my kids while they were still inside my wife's body, and felt that I had already begun to know them. Evidently the reverse is also true. As soon as I held no. 4 we looked each other straight in the eyes for what seemed like a long time, and it was confirmed for me: Yes, I know you, and Yes, you know me. We bonded in that instant and that bond has never been lost. These births, in which I participated as much as a father can, were among the most awesome experiences of my life (all of them, in essence, spiritual). I don't think I cried then, but I was awestruck, happy, and grateful beyond words.

Dad would take me to meet people, watch movies and places he had been. This so I would know why he chose a life in this town. We are not a city yet or village. Businesses are scared of risk. He wanted me to feel what he did for those less fortunate and struggle after his death. It is six years now since he is gone and I still remember the examples. You cannot read a book about it. It is simply love. Has to be lived.
