I had my ankle replaced and during surgery my Dr cut himself and it made surgery last waaay longer... we both had to have our blood tested and all of that...

I thought they throw away the equipment
@nhnnj13 күн бұрын
no, not all equipment. but needles are always thrown away. most metal equipment will be washed and sterilized. if it breaks, it will be thrown away or replaced. but im sure that there are guidelines in place that say how long equipment can be kept

It depends on the kind of equipment as to if repairs can be made or not. There are some instruments that have disposable versions like robot arms (amongst others) or instruments with limited uses tracked in our system. I work in a SP department and am CRCST certified

Not all. Needles, yes. But most surgical instruments, no. They have instruments that get thrown away if there is no way to clean them, which would be prion diseases. I’m in training for the job that he does rn.

The kits used in surgery go to them to be decontaminated, sorted, and then the fully sorted kits are sterilized and stored in a sterile manner until surgery. He is sorting the equipment into kits before it is sterilized so what he's doing poses no risk to him or anyone on the surgery side of things 😊
