Hosting Thanksgiving doesn't need to be a stressful task. In today's video, I am sharing all of my simple ways to make it easier step by step!
Since several of my family members travel during Thanskgiving, I asked my family last year to do a Thanksgiving Meal together earlier in the month. My mom's birthday is also in November, so we used the night to celebrate both. We decided to do it again this year, and I take you along start to finish as I prepare all of the traditional dishes!

With four young boys and doing home schooling, it is a huge accomplishment to pull off a meal of this calibre and also make extra gluten free things. Well done!!!!! What I would have done differently is to cut back on the sugar. I make apple pies with no added sugar and I would never put marshmallows over a veggie dish. But that's just me. You do, YOU, with pizazz!

You are so right, being organized and doing as much ahead is the key!! I actually make my mashed potatoes the day before, put in a big microwave safe bowl, cover with Saran Wrap and heat up in the microwave. Add a little extra butter and milk, stir a few times while warming up. Takes maybe 10 min in microwave. And I cook my onions/celery for the stuffing in butter the day before and store in fridge. Also I make a big (huge!) casserole of Mac/cheese and freeze it unbaked. You can do that a month or so ahead of time. Put in fridge a few days before thanksgiving to unthaw, then put your topping on and bake like normal!! Pretty table!!! Your husband is so helpful, you’re lucky!! Hi Sweet Girl. What has worked very well for me to add dining places for grandchildren and now their girlfriends is to find the largest space and add some smaller tables in close proximity (somewhat like a cozy restaurant). I just let everyone choose their own spot so their is no designated “kiddy” table. We have no problem all chatting and laughing from table to table, if fact we are somehow closer to each other than you would be at one long table. Maybe put your large table horizontally and go right into your living room if necessary. I bought several matching tablecloths which helps us all feel at one table. A 15$ thrifted drop leaf table has been great. I have often seen card tables at thrift stores. Your family will have a wonderful Thanksgiving 💕💕💕

I watched this video yesterday in its entirety and I want to tell this young woman what a profound effect it had upon me! Not only is she a lovely person she is also a talented cook (with a husband who pitches right in!! 😊) but her calm demeanor during the Thanksgiving prep she was doing helped me immensely. We never know how our actions will affect others. Sometimes it’s nice to share the good things about KZfaq with those who put in all the work producing videos!😊 so many things you did in this video I decided to try myself. Yes, I have prepared MANY Thanksgiving dinners over my 72 years yet I found your video inspiring. I still make a nice dinner for myself though my children are grown, one married to military living far away. The other we won’t go into here. I love holiday so I put in the effort. Cream cheese mashed potatoes can be made several days ahead and then baked in your crockpot on Thanksgiving dsy. They are delicious.

I recently went to a gluten-free diet and I really appreciate you sharing your gluten-free recipe for pie crust. I do find being the only in the family that it's hard at family gatherings not being able to enjoy what everyone is having. Thank you for sharing.

Extra placemats are great for birthday celebrations-same for Mother’s Day’s and Father’s Day’s-everyone writes special blessings and tributes to the celebrated person on the mats. Then just use like normal. Great reminder of the celebrated person.

Andrea - wow! That was a beautiful and very delicious looking meal. I haven’t ever made something to that scale, but I know even when I cook a special meal for a much smaller crowd, I always feel so good about providing delicious food for others to enjoy. I love the pumpkin and the baby’s breath centre piece. Your dinner looks delicious. My mother-in-law had started tradition of mixing cranberry juice and ginger ale in a fancy jug when we got together for special dinners. My children are in their late 30s and their kids look forward to having this little cocktail. We don’t drink alcohol but I do pour them into fancy wine glasses/goblets. Great tips and beautiful home! One of my “cheats” for the sweet potato casserole, is to bake my sweet potatoes in the oven with the skins on and then when they are done, I just scoop out the flesh for my dish and mix. Saves me so much time not having to peel and cut those hard sweet potatoes and tastes delish too!! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Andrea, thank you for sharing this beautiful video. That was a lot of work cooking for hours while filming and getting different angles for this video. It’s so nice to see fall/thanksgiving decorations for Thanksgiving. I am gluten free, celiac disease. I love how you showed that gluten free can be incorporated with everything else. My granddaughter is also allergic to nuts. We just put the nuts to the side and everyone can put them in if wanted. Your apple pie looks delicious,I would love to have the recipe and your roll and pie crust recipe. I also appreciate the care you take in everything you do. I am loving your pictures you are sharing. Also, I saw a piece like the one you put in your bedroom. Same exact thing and it said it was a dry sink. But I love it where you moved it.

What a beautiful Thanksgiving and birthday celebration for all of you to enjoy! I know you made your mom feel extra special, treasured and loved!💖 You are so right about having recipes at hand on paper and items prepped ahead of the big day!! When I was your age we used to do "Early Thanksgiving" for our extended family. That first year there were many babies in blankets on the living room floor, then as they grew, we added more tables to seat everyone.☺ Our parents moved home to heaven many years ago and now we enjoy dinner at one of our children's homes, so the hosting is picked up by the younger generation, just as your family is doing! You're so right about having our husbands' strong arms in the kitchen to help with the many tasks! If not for my own, I don't think I would have managed the feast!! Blessed and grateful!💖 This was such a lovely visit with you, Sweetie pie - thank you for sharing your Thanksgiving with all of us! Loved looking at your pies, each a work of art!!
