Rugby World Cup 2023 got off to a bang as France won the opening match at the Stade de France in Paris and for the first time ever, saw New Zealand lose a pool match at the tournament.
The Pool A encounter on the opening night always promised to be a cracker, but after the All Blacks scored inside the opening two minutes, Antoine Dupont and his men did well to regroup and eventually close the game out to ensure they got on the right track from the outset at their own World Cup.

Wasn't the only thing that we saw in this game that we later got whinged at for lol. Two penalties for an AB prop putting a knee on the ground but England have never heard of this law apparently? Until they played the Bronze final and scored the winning points via a penalty for the Argie prop putting a knee on the ground.... oh the irony 🤣

There's several similar cases of charge downs throughout the RWC where players (not as quick as Cheslin Kolbe) were just a metre or two away from success in blocking the kicks, yet there's uproar when someone actually manages to charge down with calls of 'he left early' 'cheater' etc. Mind boggles. Once the kicker shifts his weight forward fo approach it's game on!.. If you're fast and time it right, you can charge it down..I've seen it done in Sunday League amateur games!

@@chiganuggoo9929 I don't think it was Kolbe who thought this out, I think it was Rassie. I also believe that O'Keefe was told what the plan was so that he would be keeping a close eye on things so Ramos would not get a free shot. Don't forget, Kobus Reinach tried it at the first conversion but was too close to the poles to start with so had more ground to cover.

Correct, that's the France v Uruguay scoreline. The actual scoreline was (All Blacks 13-27 France (Host). Isn't cool that somehow France (Host) had scored 27 points 2 times in a row, before smoking Namibia.

This win against All Blacks was the only glory France had at the world cup. They paid a heavy a price for voting against South Africa to host the World Cup. Springboks shattered their homeground advantage world cup. They will never ever get more better chance to have won the World Cup
