The hosts of The View decided to take on Republican Governor Chris Sununu in a debate about AR-15s and mass shootings. Brace yourselves, because it was a train wreck of misinformation and embarrassing arguments.
First off, let's talk about the AR-15.
These hosts seemed to have zero understanding of what they were talking about.
They rambled on about how dangerous and deadly it is, completely oblivious to the fact that it's a semi-automatic rifle, just like many other firearms out there.
They portrayed it as some kind of autonomous killing machine, as if the gun itself is responsible for the actions of criminals. Come on, ladies, let's get our facts straight!
But it didn't stop there.
They conveniently ignored the reality that mass shootings account for less than 1% of firearm homicides. Yes, you heard that right. Less than 1%!
Yet they were quick to demonize the AR-15, even though it's involved in only a fraction of those tragic incidents. It's like they were playing a game of "Let's blame the gun without looking at the actual facts."
And here's the kicker: The hosts failed to recognize that Governor Chris Sununu governs the safest state in the nation, New Hampshire.
They thought they had some gotcha moment by pointing out his A Rating with the NRA and his stance on gun laws.
But guess what? New Hampshire is a shining example of how responsible gun ownership and sensible policies can contribute to a safe environment.
They were left speechless, stumbling over their words, unable to comprehend this inconvenient truth.
It's frustrating to see these supposed "experts" embarrass themselves on national television.
They lacked the knowledge, the understanding, and the willingness to engage in an honest and informed debate. Instead, they resorted to fear-mongering and cherry-picking data to fit their narrative. It's disappointing, to say the least.
So, my friends, let's not fall into the trap of misinformation. Let's educate ourselves, have meaningful conversations, and demand that our media holds itself to a higher standard. We deserve better than these embarrassing debates that only perpetuate ignorance.

As an Asian-American gun owner in California, I have enough personal experience with antigunners to confirm what you said in the OP. You're exactly right! And the biggest reason that they're impossible to talk to is how they invent stuff in their heads. Like I was telling this girl about the gun restrictions in California and all the crime against Asians in my city, and by the end, she told me that I was "convincing her to get a gun". 🤦‍♂️ (And she was someone who used to go to the gun range with me...)

I live in NYS. A .22 semiauto with a removeable magazine (such as a Ruger 10/22) is defined as an "assault weapon" and is forbidden to be sold. This is NOT about only AR-15s.

Assault Rifles are things like M-16s that have been banned for a long time. Back in '96 it wasn't about machine guns either. It's always been about hysterical women who want to ban guns because they're icky. Before the school Gun Free Zones, back when all high-schools had rifle clubs, we didn't have mass-shootings.

I used to live in Western NY and I remember when a NYS Congresswoman called to ban “high capacity ammunition” People that have NO IDEA are the ones making the laws. As a matter of fact a semi-auto shotgun is fine for hunting but that same shotgun with a pistol grip style butt stock that a lot of people use when turkey hunting is considered an assault rifle and is illegal…

Marine Corps combat veteran here 😮 Funny thing is the AR-15 is a civilian model of our military version of the M-16. Military model has a "fire burst" mode which means for every single pull meaning for every round you squeeze off " 3 rounds" go down range. Our government is afraid of the citizens living in America.

I tell them that they are trying to remove my ability to defend my family. That if a criminal who purchased a firearm illegally were to come attack my family, they would have me lay down and take it. They get really quiet really quickly. Bonus points for talking through a home invasion scenario while a timer is going counting down the average police response time.

Why should she be different. We have a president , who wants to be one of the big " movers and shakers" making new gun control laws, yet he spouts such inane dribble , such as.... 1-"Nobody uses an AR-15 to hunt." When , in reality, the AR-15 is one of ( if not THE) most popular small game hunting rifles in the country. 2-"AA nine millimeter will blow your lungs out..." while claiming that they are too powerful for citizens to use for self/home defense. While also stating that people should get a 12-gauge shotgun for home defense . When, in reality , a 12 gauge shotgun , 00 buck round is about 5 times MORE POWERFUL than a 9mm round. 3- That you can't own just any forearm and that " you can't own a cannon..." But, yes, you can. 4-Gives the advice that, for home defense one should " Get a double barrel shotgun " and fire two warning shots to scare off a potential attacker. When, again, back here in reality, firing warning shots into the air, as he suggests, is illegal pretty much everywhere in this country. He doesn't know the actual facts on the weapons, he doesn't know the laws on their use, he does't know the statistics on the use of firearms, but he is perfectly comfortable acting like he knows enough about the subject to aid in making laws about it.

@@wanderer5200 That is the majority of the flaw with the statistic they use. Most people hear "mass shooting" and assume 1 shooter vs a crowd of unarmed bystanders. When in reality the vast majority of "mass shootings" used in that inflated statistic are from gangs shooting other armed rival gangs, most of which occurring in Chicago or other Democrat controlled cities.

It's so true. But hopefully I can reassure you a bit, I'm a mature small disabled RN. I would be NO match for almost any would be attacker. That's why I'm a firm believer in & supporter of the 2nd. I NEVER leave home without my trusty thirty eight Taurus. I also have something a bit more for home defense 😁👍🏼 It's a ZPAP 85 alpha and just the right size for me. Every day, more women buy guns for self-protection in the current escalating crime wave all across the US. Because we do NOT feel safe or trust slimy gun grabbing politicians to keep us safe in these times where they coddle criminals and punish victims. I grew up handling guns of all types and one of my dearest friends is also a mature woman who's a licensed firearms instructor. I'm pretty confident that the women who watch and believe those morons on The View, do NOT represent most women. So their audience probably isn't as large as they want people to think it is. Most of us cannot stand them. 😂 Stay strapped or get clapped 👍🏼

@@metalmamasue3680 Amen Sister! Couldn't have been said any better! I'm Blessed to be raised in a family who all had firearms of some type. Being around guns, was just normal growing up. They are tools for certain jobs. Hunting, sporting, and self defense. I conceal carry a Glock-48 everyday. To work, and even Church 3 times a week. To be honest, Church stands a higher chance of needing it than anywhere else I go. Especially these days in time. God Bless you and stay frosty, stay strapped, and always stay dangerous!

One thing I also noticed is that it's never a one-on-one discussion against pro-2A and anti-gunners. It's always a stacked discussion where the anti-gunners dogpile on the pro-2A person and start drowning him out when he starts saying things they don't like. You literally have to put a muzzle on the anti gunners to shut them up long enough to get a complete sentence out.

I had been a police officer in one of the counties in the area of metro Atlanta for less than a year when the 1994 weapons ban went into effect. I saw no real positive impact from the ban and it was mostly an inconvenience for legitimate gun owners and users, including police officers. After retiring last year I can say that almost without exception, the firearms I saw used in crimes were low cost, more poorly made firearms. I saw ARs and AKs during a few drug busts and search warrants but almost never in the hands of people. I got shot at a few times; the closest was a .38 special from a smaller brand snubnose wielded by a suicidal older woman. The round went between my arm and rib cage, hit a neighboring house with no injury to anyone. Of the firearms related deaths I saw, a majority were suicides.

Thank you for your service. I don't know why but something about the majority of gun deaths being suicides stuck a cord with me. The idea of having to walk threw a scene of someone that offed themselves is horrifying to me. I had to deal with depression threw a lot of my life, makes it hit a bit harder. I hope that you are doing fine, I don't know if I would have been having to see what you likely saw and went threw.

@ birdmanoo0 That can be bad, but I can think of an even worse scenario, the ones who survive. Imagine the situation where someone is perfectly fine, aside from let's say bad situations they encounter throughout life causing, as an example, great depression thus pushing them to make that type of decision. Imagine them going to do something only to find that they have survived, but maybe now can no longer walk, see, hear, smell, taste and not even fully think. Maybe they have to even have food sent through a tube for the rest of their life or worse. Maybe a bullet got lodged in their brain and it can't be removed. That's the type of situation I think of when people plan on doing certain things. Imagine surviving and life being worse than it was previously. I then remind them that they may want to rethink things. I ask them what are they going to do if they have to rely on everyone around them. People don't tend to think of what can happen because they are so caught up in temporary situations. Our lives are but a speck of dust in the big scheme of things. That is my passing thought on it. There was a study conducted by the Chicago police department in conjunction with the FBI on all the recovered firearms used in Chicago crimes. 80% were bought in Illinois, yet everyone believes most guns in Chicago come from Indiana. I have witnessed this "gun fear" first hand. When my goddaughter was just a few months old her father and I went to a shooting range. When we came back his aunt went into hysterics screaming "Get away from the baby, you've got a gun!" her fear was genuine and out of ignorance. It took a good 30 minutes to calm her down 'after assuring her my gun was in the car' and explain to her that me owing a gun and being a good shot was actually a form of protection for my goddaughter. She never embraced guns, but did see me as more than a firearm which originally she couldn't see past the gun to the person who owned it. Small steps...

The problem with that is that the statistics aren’t technically false. A wise man once said “there are liars, there are damned liars, and there are statisticians.” Statistics are so easy to manipulate, and since most people don’t question what they hear, it allows people to perpetuate false narratives by twisting real data.
