Hot and Humid leads to Wet and Drenching! Oh, and we got 5 trains too!

12 күн бұрынI spent Wednesday in Vandalia, Ohio by the CSX Toledo Sub with Buckeye Freight Railin` @GY51360 @SimonsEMDProductions and @AdventureswithJoeyBoats looking to get a lot of action on this very hot and humid day.
The first train was a long Southbound CSX I141. It is a daily intermodal that I have gotten more times than I can count.
It was followed a short time later by a long Northbound CSX autorack moving on!
Then we get the long Southbound CSX "Slabosaurus Rex" steel slab train that goes to the Cleveland Cliffs Middletown, Ohio steel mill.
The next train to show up was a long CSX Northbound mixed manifest that I got coming around the long curve headed straight at us.
A Southbound high railer rolled past not long before the skies opened up with a heavy downpour of rain. We had to get under the US 40 bridge to stay somewhat dry as the Northbound Middletown Special steel coil train rolled by in the heavy rainstorm. We even got a horn salute too!

I loved the coil steel train even though it was difficult to see because of the rain! You guys can be glad the bridge was there or you'd all be soaked to the bone! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤

10:44 do you see the top slab bouncing ? . then it dawned on me there's no binders . strap's or chain's on both slabs and coil's now for the last train in the rain .......3 academy awards for outstanding in their field scott, simon, and Mr. boats with greg as executive producer ( he has an office )

Yep, they don`t tie those slabs down at all. They are counting on gravity keeping them in place. I saw one go through Carlisle once that had jumped sideways and was hanging off both sides of the car about 3 feet! The train in the rain was a real lucky catch as far as timing. We knew it was coming and it showed up about 2 minutes after it started pouring rain! Lol Have a great 4th of July Tom!

oh damn that was pouring piss out of a boot down around Prestonsburg rain!! we barely got wet sidewalks here!! you know Scott i'm surprised we don't see more open containers than we do and open doors on racks is getting pretty common compared to the past!! i swear 2:45 in the morning and i've got an idiot shooting fireworks on the corner! some peoples children!!

Yep, it was really coming down in a hurry for about 20 minutes. Luckily the train came right when it was really getting it! I know wat you mean about the fireworks. I live out in the sticks and there were people shooting them off all night long! Have a great 4th of July!

Good made video, mr 1960 Gambit. On the start of the video i see hè this Vandalia good place to spot trains. But the weather first hot and than a lot of rain including wind is that normal? Here in Zandvoort on the coast turns the weather conditions in 1 hour. But that can whe see on the weather app. Thx for this topvideo 🚆🚆🚆👍👍💪💪👌🚆🚆 in Vandalia. Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.

Thanks Roelof! Yes, it is somewhat normal to get heavy rain and wind like that in the Summer when the thunderstorms roll through. That was actually an average one. If there had been tornadoes nearby, you wouldn`t have been able to see the train through the rain! Have a great day!

Really cool video dude... Looks like an awesome location..I feel you on the rain aspect..I got stuck in a Thunderstorm at the depot here last month😂....Also I see you snagged CSX Locomotive 124 on that second train which displays the "Clinchfield Emblem" on the front...Caught it myself last month and posted it online and got jumped by people saying it was a "Fake" 😅

Another awesome video Scott and yeah you three are dedicated rail fans but I wonder if those steel calls is gonna be at the right temperature when they reached their destination because of you’ll notice you could see the steam coming off of them babies and if they’re not, they’ll reject that whole load But anyway, my friend you stay dry out there lmaoooo and stay safe and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one.
