He is a special case and enjoys playing the piano because he has good grasp of the instrument at a young age due to his prodigious talent and perfect pitch abilities which allows him to easily replicate notes from pop songs, thus allowing him to arrange effortlessly. Many ordinary children on the other hand often struggles even to read notes. Needless to say they will find it difficult to play a piece in entirety, that's why they end up disliking the learning curve and journey. However once the child can easily read notes and pick up pieces easily, that's where they find the joy in playing piano. The children has to go through the initial difficult stages of learning and many hours of practicing before they find interest in the instrument. I wouldn't like to stereotype the Asian community and blame Asian parents by always saying they "force children to learn music". At a young age, children tends to give up easily with the slightest difficulty or obstacle; they do not have tenacity as much as adults. It's where parents intervention (where you say "forced") that help children overcome the difficult stage so that they can appreciate the instrument when they are older and are more skilled in sight reading and playing the instrument. Whether it is "forced" or not also depends on how good the teacher is. I believe children will look forward to learning piano if they have an approachable, friendly and nurturing teacher who encourages making of mistakes in class and then correcting them patiently, one step at a time. For one, I am very appreciative of my parents who made me continue learning (or if you like "forced" me to learn) even though I always complained of quitting the instrument when I was very young. I can now sight read diploma level pieces instantly and fully enjoy the instrument. Nevertheless, kudos to this prodigy with a very bright future!!

i can totally relate. i was forced by my parents to take up piano lessons when i was a kid even if i didn't really want it, they told me to just give it a try lol. i really enyojed it, but i still ended up hating it and leaving the piano in the corner of our room for soooo many years. until this quarantine thing happened, i had nothing else to do that's why i tried playing again. i never thought i would love it more this time lol. even if i had so much break from playing, i don't regret anything because what's more important is now and that i'm doing what i actually like.💜😁
