The real meat (funni joke) of this game is Take and Hold. Once you get the basics, you can give yourself lots of health and start hammering away at that mode. Its so deep, engrossing, stressing and fun, that I would gladly pay even 2x the asking price just for that mode. The rouguelike elements, characters that are totally different to each other, and the ways the concept is twisted just by adding a custom maps/character is just bonkers. The feeling of doing something tacticool with a gun, sneaking and breaking a sosigs neck, stabbing and using their body as a meat shield, completing a shooting challenge on a hold without a miss, unloading whole magazine on a bunch of enemies... There are just so many great expieriences you can get with TnH, that I dont think any game ever got even close to recreating.

i love and appericate the youtubers who pick this up and acknowledge the fact they've only scratched the surface of this game as its got a learning curve thats a bit steep and thats just learning how to work the weapons but with time you learn all the hand crafted for your pleasure and ease of use short cuts to work everything which you can see in your options menu like a way to work the bolt of your rifle to make it ridiculously easy to shoot using a scope or how to drop a mag and pick up another one using the same hand (smart palming for extra tactical reloads)

H3VR is _the_ game I bought VR for. As a gun loving fanatic who lives in Germany, I went in with little to no firearm knowledge, only "guns are cool and I wanna handle them" It took me roughly a week to get accustomed to all the controls and general gameplay, but once I got used to Armswinger and Classic controls (this was before Streamlined was added), it's the best control scheme honestly. Also as you said, this is no arcade shooter, it's a real gun simulator, and because of it I was so spoiled that whenever I try to play any other VR shooter games I just get disappointed because of their gun implementation. 220 hours later (and counting) I got the gun safety rules hardwired to my head and I treat airsoft guns as if they were real (as you should, they can still seriously hurt when mishandled), I have a way better knowledge of firearms (still not good at it, but enough to hold a conversation), and most of all, it sharpens my mechanical skill and focus under adrenaline (eg. during Take and Hold sections), all in all, it was definitely worth the 20 EUR I've spent on the game, hell, I'd pay 60 EUR for it. Also don't even get me started with mods, there are SO MUCH content that Anton could literally just take a year to focus on giving the game more polish (not saying that it isn't, but more is always welcome), add more QoL features and frameworks for better modding capabilities (which he is already doing), and we'd still be fine on getting new content every now and then since the modding community is very active. All in all, this is THE definitive VR game for me.

Totally agree with all you said, I also bought my VR headset mainly for H3 ^^ I had gun experience and knowledge before the game, but jsut being able to handle them in a safe environment is so much more fun, not to mention all the weird and quirky guns you never even could imagine to touch in real life (looking at you, G11 and Pancor Jackhammer) the only thing I am sad about is that this game dosnt have a coop mode

I’m an avid shooter and collector, I own a deagle, an MP5, just so many AR15’s… before I take a new shooter to the range, after I give the safety talk, I like to make them play the indoor range with guns we’re taking that day. This is the only game I can really say that if you can learn to use a firearm in-game I can hand you the real deal and you can use it.

@@JoernR Because I use a VR simulator to familiarize a new shooter with the manual of arms of a given firearm? Are you a Fudd? Carry a .45 because they don't make a .46, do ya? I take the safety speech and enforcement of muzzle and trigger discipline very seriously, friend. As of today I have had zero NDs or flagging events, and I'm looking forward to keeping that record clean. Given your attitude though; I'm completely fine with you sticking to your regular shooting range.

@TheWarmotor
@TheWarmotor Жыл бұрын
@@JoernR Well it makes sense that you take the subject seriously, but you do seem a little dismissive and apt to make assumptions. I am a hobbyist, and yes I do own a lot of firearms that are objectively range toys without much real utility. I have taken the gun safety courses and the state-mandated CCW class, and I've met my share of jaded instructors, but I try not to apply labels to people I don't know. People in my family and social circle know that I'm passionate about history and technology - and how the two come together in the form of firearm function and design. Many of these people have approached me and asked if I would facilitate the experience of firing a weapon, which is a responsibility that I take very seriously. That being said; yes I am still a hobbyist, and I get that a professional would get his jimmies disturbed at people like me. It shows that you're good at what you do, I take no offense. ALL of that said, if I could share an anecdote? I took my wife out to the public range (back when we had just started dating) after she inherited a .22LR DA revolver and a 20-bore pump from her late father and showed the appropriate manual of arms and gave her the 5-rules talk and showed her some 'darwin award' videos and talked about which of the rules were ignored and lead to the shooters' failures, etc. She did ok, but was pretty perplexed when it came to a modern black rifle, just overwhelmed with the steps of loading, charging, safety, bolt release, et al. After some time with H3VR, practicing the steps in the appropriate order, and repeating - the next time we went to the range she was very confident and required basically no coaching, it was readily apparent that the low-stress repetitive virtual experience had really sunk in. You should really consider trying it before dismissing it.

I grew up around firearms and I have tried to demo VR to people with this game and did not realize that people didn't understand the concept of magazines or charging handles. To the point where I have learned that it is best to just load a bunch of guns and let them choose any that they want although they still get confused when it runs out of ammo.

I think the real take away from H3VR is what you can get done with a dedicated developer. I've been playing H3 since it was a tiny tech demo with only a handful of scenes and weapons. Its been amazing seeing the game grow into what it is today with Antons hard work and weekly updates. Its amazing what he's done as a (mostly) single person dev team, consistently putting out great content.
