The name hot rod came about when hoods came off to let heat escape and fenders came off to expose rods and linkage .it has taken on a whole new meaning over the years including the modern term rat rod . As a pioneer I can say we never intended them to look ratty it was just because most of us did not have the money for expensive detail. I personally never thought rust was kool and never will. We liked our rides to be nice as possible to draw admiration from viewers . Nuff said

Right on Bob. Everything is rodding. Yep the tuner guys are doing the same things that always have been done. Take a car you can afford, make it fast and look cool. Not my thing but I respect it.

You "understand" (and I'm assuming) "Accept" drift vehicles as some form of Hot Rodiing, but don't get the Rat Rod ting ? ..

Yeah almost any modified car is a hot rod in spirit anyway, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it! The purpose of this video was to kind of define the Traditional Hot Rods we will be talking about in the series! Thanks!

Sort of narrow minded. Would you really tell a WWII vet that the 33 Plymouth 5 window coupe with a Chrysler Hemi he built when he got back home from the war that it was not a traditional hot rod because it was not a Ford? I think your definition falls way short of the original meaning when the Hot Rod movement was first taking place. Enjoy the stuff the turn out, but disagree with your narrow definition.

Oh everything is a hot rod except any other car than a early ford , watch your own clip, fender or no fender is the builders choice is it not, or do you write the rules
