Back in March I was going through a lot of tests for cancer. I saw your video on Bible Gardens. I immediately went out and got a bible ( mine were in storage as I was in process of moving from Maine to Florida) So I made a Bible garden on trust. Let me tell you, I did get diagnosed with cancer but it was the best thing that ever happened to me ( other than adopting my son) because it woke up my spiritual life. It has gotten me through surgery, endometrial cancer..completely removed…appendiceal cancer… all relived, and now we are watching a minuscule nodule on my lung. But God has been so amazing. So then I saw the distorts club and wanted a prayer Bible on lots of topics so I made one. I loved it so much I’ve been making many of them. When I go to oncologists on Wednesday I am going to bring one and just leave it in waiting room with a note explaining how to use it and hope God puts it into the hands of someone who needs it. I am baking one for my sister who is married to a pastor. I know she will love it. Thanks Cat for all you share!!!

I decided to use washi tape as tabs. I do my monthly devotional each month has a theme each theme is color coded with a small washi tape tab

I’m glad I used the tabs! Once put together, which can seem overwhelming and time consuming, my prayer time is definitely more focused. I don’t have to look at a key or look up the verse, instead I just flip to it. It has been wonderful.🙏❤️

Love the prayer bible you've created for your sister. I have that book of 200 prayer prompts. I found it for $1.99 at my local bargain discount store and I love the idea of adding the prompts near the verses. I have a journaling bible that I've decided to dedicate for my prayer bible, so that I could record my prayers while reading. But your video has given me inspiration to add the prayer prompts as well for those days when I'm stuck on what to pray. ❤☺

Im so thankful you made thie comment to make it your own. So many people are copying so many prayer Bibles my fear for us as Christians is we are becoming insincere or becoming so regimented with a routine that we are no longer praying to God from our own mouths or our own hearts anymore. We have to be careful because on top of the scriptures we pray we have to remember God stull wants to hear what is in our hearts authentically in connection WITH the scriptures. So many women have lost who they are independently with God in their own personal relationship by doing so many prayer routines like others. One thing i have always admired about your channel as your subscriber is that YOU HAVE ALWAYS Encouraged PEOPLE TO DO WHAT WORKS FOR THEM WITH GOD. God bless

This was so helpful. I got a smaller bible with larger print for my prayer bible project, however I was overwhelmed with all the tabs as it prevented me from being able to flip through the pages. I was struggling with the tabs. I really didn't know what I was going to do. I was using the tabs and they were crunching my pages and I was super worried about the thin Bible paper ripping. I love the idea of drawing a heart, or using a small sticker (maybe a small color dot sticker? ) and writing in the margin the topic. I love the idea of using the TCR Bible too! Brilliant idea! I also thought about writing or typing my own lists and putting that in my Bible too. Thanks Sis ❤

First of all, thank you Lord, and thank you sister! I’ve been thinking about making tabbed bibles that help complete novices, unbelievers, to answer their tough questions, perhaps the toughest is ‘why does God allow suffering?’ ‘How does Jesus save and from what?’ ‘Help for life’s problems - leading really to help with our spirit’s problems, what really matters.’ Stuff like that. Instead of giving people verses, give them a marked up bible and pray they might read further in it. My postman stood in tears on my doorstep about some bad trouble, and I wish I’d had one ready to comfort him. Even just a New Testament and Psalms, so it’s not too bulky. I must get some that don’t actually look like bibles, because people don’t want to be seen holding a gild edge brick with ribbons, if they’re still sensitive to that, so a paperback, maybe, is ok. I do like the idea of bibles for different subjects/themes/needs. I’ve made one so far and it got full so quickly, I’ve now bought a large print desk bible to make into a prayer bible because there’s more ‘real estate’, more length to the pages, and more pages on which to stick tabs. And I’m seeing discrete little tab flags that hardly stick out, and are neat and tidy, which a man or a non creative person may prefer. Really these bibles are just a beefed up aide memoire, or signpost to where particular verses are! And when I first started reading I was so overwhelmed about finding where the sections were about this and that, and a bit frustrated that the book wasn’t organised into subjects! Little did I know I’d gradually assimilate, although I still struggle with remembering references. I need these for that too. What encouraged me was that even Paul said “somewhere it says”…. And then he quoted the Old Testament. I’m sure he knew where it was, but I find myself saying similar now, “doesn’t it say somewhere?” Memories are just tabs in the mind, and my mine is now in need of physical helps like this. So many ways of doing this. Can’t find the 200 prayer prompts in Amazon in the UK unfortunately, but I’ll track one of those down, thanks for the heads up on that book!

Thanks for this video. Earlier today I had gotten frustrated and taken all the tabs out I spent days putting in. Some of my pages are kinda messed up a bit. I took them all out as carefully as I could. I like the idea of a colored heart. All those tabs look so fun and appealing, but they just weren’t for me. I’ve added a pages in various places in my Bible for each person I want to pray for along with a page for requests and one for ER prayer where I will use sticky notes, then I’ve tabbed the top of those added pages Monday-Sunday so I’m praying each day toward a specific person or group of people or purpose. So after watching this, I’m going to add a colored heart near the verses to pray. I already highlighted where the bazillion tabs were so this is perfect.

I didn't want to create a prayer journal with all the bells and whistles because I haven't read the entire Bible yet and for me I think it's a must. Thank you for making this video and sharing such good ideas. You have inspired me; I forsee that I will be quite busy next year. 😊 I am working on a prayer Bible right now. Instead of tabs marking the verses, I have created a library-style pocket for index cards. The cards have themes and verses to pray. That way, I can color code the themes and use the card to guide me, all without adding tabs. I can, also, add to the verses as I come across more that fit each theme. But, it will take time.

Yes, the way you’ve done it is exactly what I had in mind to do with one of my Bibles. Seems like all the tabs would be a distraction. I have been thinking about trying washi tape tabs that are flush with the page edge. But I wonder if even that would tear a page edge.

Avery tabs are great because they’re moveable.

I am making a prayer Bible for my mom. She lives several states away & I think it will mean a lot to her. I am putting a few tabs in that I know will be meaningful and then I’m sending a list of several topics & verses that go with them so she can decide to include them or to use the tabs on other verses.

Greetings to you! On the topic of tabs...I too am very aware that tabs can be awesome or a failure per my experiences thus far. Like smaller Bibles...that can be a big mistake because the tabs can end up being so close to the bottom and top, which can cause a prickly feeling in the hands or fingers per possible sharp points of the tabs. And on small Bibles it can be just too much, even with mini-sized tabs. Or even larger Bibles like those that are thin lines, can be too much as well. But here are the reasons when I put on tabs....Bibles that are big where it is hard to find where I want to be quickly, especially Bibles I want to use in church--where the Pastor gives a lot of references during the sermon, when a Bible is very hard to work with, that is, moving from one section to another...I think it has something to do with the construction even if a quality Bible...it just seems to be hard to move around in, other Bibles where there are wide margins and the page numbers and chapters and so forth are set well inside the Bible...that is also a great one for tabs to find where I want to be faster. I am very careful about using the Bibles that have tabs on them, so they work great for me when I do need/use them. I always start by placing the first tab in Revelation and proceed from there, and pre plan where I want them exactly, how many per row (that is for each row), how I over lap (if they are those kind of tabs), what I want at the top, etc., and I really take my time placing them. For me, I also do not want the tabs too close to the top or to the bottom...so I plan some space there. And finally, I think sometimes we are influenced by memories, so there are tabs that perhaps I enjoy just because of what it reminds me of, and it makes me love a particular tab choice that just makes me happy if I need to apply tabs lately. There are some tabs that have extra tabs, like for maps and concordance etc that can be used if the Bible has a lot of extra sections. Even more, those tabs help me to navigate and also remind me that it has all this stuff in it, like a topical index or helps or bios, etc...grin. Sometimes I can forget that it had this or that. That too, needs time to consider how to use them or where to place them carefully. But I totally agree with you...certain Bibles just might not need them at all or defeats its purpose even. I used to be so protective over my bible but then realized that because I didn't want to ruin it, I wasn't using it much. One day I just went for it and made a bunch of tabs (I used my tab punch) with cardstock and labeled all of the books. I even dared to start note taking and highlight in it. There were some small mess ups along the way but I haven't used my bible so much in my life! Every day I am so excited to dig into it and read/study with it. It's been just over a year I think and none of the tabs or pages are bent or ruined except one where I tried to reposition a tab and impatiently pulled to hard causing a small rip. It's flawed like me and I love it even more. Which bible are you using here? The blue gilding is stunning!

Your video is such a blessing! You are right that tabs tear up bible pages. I am blessed to have a small bible that dad gave to mom with a sweet note. The bible was tabbed & sadly some tabs had torn up a few pages. I didn't have peace to add tabs to a new bible I just bought to make it a prayer bible but didn't want to use tabs or overload it with so many subjects. I was overwhelmed until I watched your video & now know what to do, keep it simple. I will make draw little hearts by verses that will be highlighted & like your green bible have one subject of verses for someone that has fear/anxiety making it a gift/comfort bible. 💝 I just subscribed & look forward to watching more of your videos to learn how you make beautiful garden bibles. I have quite a few Bibles, as I collect each version as something to check between Bible studies. I never thought of having a theme of prayers, but it sounds like a good thing to me. I can fill up a Bible in no time putting a little of everything in just one. Maybe it makes it easier if looking for a certain prayer. 😇🙂😺😽❤❤

A prayer Bible happens over time because it represents your own journey and where you are on your path. It’s a living document. Let God guide you. It will evolve as you mature in your prayer practice.

Where did you get the prayer prompts?

Put a sticky note in the Bibles stating that the Bible is for them. If not they will think somebody left it in error.
