The moral of the video is if you want to set your fastest lap time don’t try and do it in the first session of the day!

I quite literally just did that today at docklands since I'm never able to do an evening session being well aware that the karts engines were stone cold and the track was a bit slippy🤣

You also have to consider the engine will be a lot more cooler first thing in the morning and not at their optimal temperatures also affecting times in the morning But yeah in the evening the track evolution can play its part even if its after loads of public sessions at a track

I've driven revolution karting in warm and very hot conditions. The extra grip is apparent immediately on a hot track, while you have to warm the tyres up on a cold track. Lines were different on the hot track with it possible to take tighter lines with less braking, overall shortening the distance travelled. Comparing and contrasting the two environments with only temperature the variable allows you to really understand how temperature affects the kart, and how you have to change your driving style to Suit.

As we have already discussed. The evolution of the track and the ability to adapt to it is a key factor to be at the top of the timing sheets ;)

Nice video, but just to let you know. Non Electric karts tends to be faster at night, something to take consideration.

Hello, i am a beginner in karting. I try to aplly trail braking like i have see in your video, and my rear wheel lock a lot. So here my question : when you say '' press hard pedal its a braking with 70 or 80% to avoid to lock, or lock just a little to rotate ? because the instructors say to me ''be gentle with brake and apply a good pressure reasonably'' so i am a little lost. Thanks in advance for your respond.

As you still classify youself as a beginner i wouldnt recommend trying to trail brake too much yet. Just concentrate on your lines and pedal work till you can brake, turn, accelerate using the whole width of the track with the absolute minimum steering input possible. Speed is smooth in karting and maintaining momentum is everything. Trail breaking may be necessary to reach yor absolute minimum laptime but you will actually start to notice yourself doing it naturally as you seek to break later into corners. Once you start to naturally adjust to the technique you can look to more purposeful application in different corners and situations. Just keep practicing the basics and the rest will come with confidence and experience.
