Natural medicine doctor here! Nutrition absolutely plays into hair loss. What is second most important is hormones. Make sure your hormone levels are correct. Menopausal women lose estrogen- which will change hair thickness, and give you that wide part and thin hair. Estrogen therapy does wonders and you’ll feel better. Don’t be afraid of identical estrogen/ it improves your life quality, gives you back your lustrous hair, and plumps your skin. Also a fun tip- eat two Brazil nuts a day to keep your selenium levels at a good level. ❤

What about when you are post menopausal and you have been on HRT since you were 36 but now on a low dose because as you get older they decrease it due to breast cancer risks...what natural remedies can you take then..also take Synthroid and have since I was 39, Hashimoto's killed my thyroid, I am now 63 (as of yesterday😊)

Mature women should wear their hair however it makes them happy to wear it. That said, I’ve seen a lot of women in their 50s and up look much more youthful with a shoulder length layered cut with light layering around their face, ideally with a bit of curl. Our faces tend to look longer and thinner as we age, and long straight hair just accentuates that up and down. Shoulder length even with a little bit of bangs can make the hair look thicker and bouncier, and bring the attention up to the eyes and the cheekbones.

This video was an "ah-ha" moment for me! This whole time I've been using biotin thinking it would help my extreme thinning, and yes, my nails have been growing, but so was my hair and no thickness! I'm changing my strategy after watching this! I was lucky to have the genetics for thick, long hair. Now, at 55, menopausal and chemo treated, my hair is so thin that ponytails are not an option. Shocker! It has taken a toll on my confidence, but I am determined to put the work in!

@@c4caffeen134 It can be so tricky as my iron wasn't technically deficient but my ferritin was soooooo deficient. Your doctor has to know to look for that or it can be a contributor to hair loss but easily overlooked. ~~~ I'm sorry to hear about your malabsorption. I bet that's frustrating to be doing the right things, but have trouble raising your levels. I'm sending you all the best as you navigate this. 💗

@@bertalippert Thank you so much🧡🧡 And I completely agree with you & doctors on how tricky some of these things are. Most of us didn't even know about ferritin. I just learned a few months ago in my digestion/hypothyroid chaos. Did you have lethargy with low ferritin? What were your symptoms? Lethargy is probably what bothers me the most each day - - I'm a very PEPPY person & love being happy and "up".... my coffee barely helps now. It's my own fault from not being able to quit sugar & carbs for years & I'm paying dearly but it's retraining me to eat properly so I appreciate that it got me away from that when I couldn't do it 😀

Great topic. I wash my hair every other day. The night before, I derma roll the areas I need it and use men's minoxidil. I buy the small Kirkland brand bottles from Amazon. I do not use the syringe it comes with. I pour a small bottle into a small glass bottle with a spray nozzle. For me so much less messy. Rub it in well, then wash hands. I wash my hair the next morning. I have seen a lot of benefit using this method. I never round brush my hair dry. Though I'm sure it would give me more body, I don't like the payoff of the feeling I get using mousse. I do use a leave in conditioner, but I do not like some of the heat styling sprays. Bedhead makes my hair feel stiff. I'd rather have a softer feel, so I use Kristin Ess. Soft hair is hard to hold curl, but I rarely curl it the first day anyway, just straighten out the kinks. The second day holds curl well. Then I use a fine mist hairspray. Unlike most, I do not like a stiff hair spray feel.

My issue is that the individual strands are much finer. The fineness/change in hair texture really affects not only how I'm able to style my hair, but 2nd & 3rd etc. day hair becomes so knotted & matted, even with use silk pillowcase. I've yet to find a solution.

@soulsurvivor1238 I have tried the bonnets which help. Now that my hair is long enough to braid I do that. Sometimes I will wrap it slightly damp around a bandana or headband. Then put the bonnet over. It dries overnight and I have curls when I unwrap it. Same idea as the old fashioned rag curlers I suppose. But, yeah, those huge knots are the worst!

Thank you! I actually have bonnets but don't use them often as I find they slip off, especially when using the silk pillowcase. But it's a good reminder that I need to try again, perhaps using bobbypins to better secure it. That, or buy different bonnets 😂.

You might want to try minoxidil or red light therapy. It sounds like your follicles aren't producing the same thickness of hairs as they were previously and either of those therapies would help strengthen the scalp & follicles!

Hi Angie. What a fabulous, informative video. My hair loss is a direct result from menopause and possibly some medications. Both of my girls have PCOS, and my oldest daughter actually does take minoxidil orally, of course by prescription. She definitely has had improvement. I should mention to her the laser therapy. I personally love hair fibers. Once they're placed where I need them, I use hairspray, and they don't budge. It's not Toppix, but a brand called Fibolica. Since I have auburn hair, the color is a perfect match. Thank you for having Justin on your channel. You both had some great information. Have an amazing weekend. Hugs. 🫂🥰❤️

Great to see the two of you together again! I'm curious if the copper peptides would help the temple area. And I'd assume being a science need, that you've seen all the interviews with the neuroscientist that created the estrogen tracers for brain imaging. It would be awesome if you got to interview her Angie! It's such a huge exciting advancement. How's the estrogen face cream going? And Justin, I need your favorite flat iron recommendations 😊
@anniezion
@anniezion 9 күн бұрын
The iron is taken out on vitamins for women post menopause due to the fact we don't lose that amount of blood every month anymore. To much iron could actually be damaging to the body, so always check at dr's office before starting to take it if not fertile anymore.

@smallnwise1 I started using a leave in conditioner to moisturize my curly hair as well as a gel and mousse layered on top to control the curl. This has improved my hair texture. I only started doing this for the last 3 years, age 66, after watching KZfaq videos. I also started eating a Keto/carnivore diet. My hair is growing really well and it is getting darker, not more grey. So surprising!

Water-soluble hair products work better for curly hair; there is little build-up and products tend to be more moisturizing. I use Raw Curls and my hair is now in really good condition. Innersense is another water-soluble brand liked by a lot of people.

I will be 42 years old next month. When I was 38 I had Covid two times in a year and lost my dad that same year as well. I lost about 1/3 of my hair. After taking Nutrafol for 10 months, it completely brought my hair back. Those little hairs are trying to catch up, but they are making their way! After my 41st birthday, I started experiencing severe itchy scalp and tried probably 10 to 15 OTC products. In the end, the only thing that helped was doubling my collagen intake and no more itchy scalp.

I like this guy - I watch his channel occassionally. As far as I personally am concerned, de-stressing will have to be at the top of my list, not last thing on the list because if you're eating stressed out, your food won't do your body much good. And exercise is a stress to your body so I do that in moderation. If I may.... I've been trying to consume ACV before eating a small salad before eating my protein, before I eat my starches, before I eat my fat ( I learned to do this from the French female biolologist, I think she is). And I do a little walking up and down the stairs throughout each day and then I started incorporating a few sit ups almost every day and I mean a few - like 3-10, if I can make it and that's it. I don't stress if I can't do more than those. :)

Hi Angie, I love your content on your videos! Thanks you! I have a question... You talked about the liquid minoxidil being messy. I'm wondering if you know about the minoxidil pill? I've been taking it for a year and my hair is as thick as it was in high school! I am ecstatic about it! I never would have tried the liquid minoxidil since I have curly hair and wash my hair about twice a week so the liquid was definitely out of the question. Just wanted to bring that to your attention 😊

@MarisaPaola Have you tried Castor oil topically for regrowth on scalp, brows, lashes? It's inexpensive and I have had results. Make sure you get the hexane free kind in a dark glass bottle. There are other more expensive things to try like latisse, I just haven't tried those yet so I can't speak on them. As far as the random stiff chin hairs that began cropping up, I zapped them with one of those laser hair removal devices. The same kind you use on your legs.

Thought it was thin then, but fast forward to now at 56 and it’s very thin all over my head, versus five years ago where it was just thin on top. I’m betting it’s all minoxidil and not the laser. I am very thin and my OB/GYN said you store estrogen in fat cells. I think that’s my whole problem.
