The fire alarm went off while my dad was on a business trip, and he got some footage for me! The system just plays a whoop tone. The system is an FCI Gamewell voice evacuation system with SpectrAlert Advance Speaker Strobes and some Wheelock remote speakers. The alarm ended up going off three times, and the hotel removed smoke detectors and covered alarms with tape as a solution D: At any rate, Enjoy!

Nice! That’s awesome your dad filmed everything! Man did they break some codes by taking down detectors and covering N/A’s. This appears to be a Gamewell FCI addressable system. Anyways very cool!

The Amtrak station in NYC has this alarm, at Moynihan hall and Penn they have Wheelock ET-70s and ceiling strobes probably ET-90s. There was even some old Cerberus Pyrotronics S15/75 remote strobes in the platforms, but definitely that same whoop tone.

That's the EXACT same tone for the fire alarm that goes off in my apartment building. It makes me shiver whenever I hear it, but I'm watching it anyway LOL! I hope it's not bad luck that I'm watching this. By that I mean, I hope my alarm doesn't go off because I'm watching this. great video!

Always happens to me when my apt. building's fire alarm goes off. The fire dept. responds and it always turns out to be a false alarm. But I did have a real fire happen when I was in middle school. There was construction work on my school being done and one of the workers was using a torch and caught the wood frame around a window on fire.

A similar thing happened recently while I was on vacation, though the alarms went off once and for a valid reason: oil from an elevator had overheated. The alarms were Wheelock AS horn/strobes and Amseco mini horns, though there was one SpectrAlert Advance and a single POTTER Electric SHB. Also, the elevators did *NOT* recall, so #whatafirealarmfail!

We have those at my high school alongside a few SPSCW-L's and a few SPSR's. All tied to a notifier NFS2-3030 and they sound what I believe is the default code 3 with no voice evac. Another school I go to has the same system with the same alarms I just mentioned but with a few extras such as a few SR', one SCW and so far 2 SPSW-L's in a newly renovated room.

A this same thing happened at my local rec center, (they were working on an indoor hockey rink and the solider, i believe, set of the smoke alarm), but the alarms were Wheelock AS’s and in the old part of the build they were 40-30!! very loud

Looks like that the hotel administrator or maintenance personnel just silenced the system instead of resetting it since the strobes continue to flash.If they reset,the panel would have a trouble displayed since there are smoke detectors removed.

Something similar happened to my school and they just silenced the alarm panel, and the strobes were going off for two whole days. They were saying "how come this stupid reset button won't work" when it clearly said "Hold for 3 secs to reset" :/

Some hotels don't have them since hallway alarms can be loud enough to be heard. It also depends on state laws as some state fire codes do not require Sounders in certain hotels
