Setup is first, video is an afterthought unfortunately. I’m doing this to document how I did it this year so I know what to do next year, make things efficient etc

I’ll try to do a soundcheck video soon. Everything is really low tech for me, basically just holding a phone at this point. I’ll see what I can do though.

EV zx3, high output 12/1” box. I had sx300s for years didn’t realize how much of an upgrade these were. Also used 7 proprietary 12/1 speakers on stands as fills. Didn’t do sound check because I was actually playing bass with the band, both FOH and mon techs were busy, once the system was at the point T in this video I stepped away to perform. With great techs working with me I need to focus on the music. Next show I may do some soundcheck, but not everyone wants to be on KZfaq either

@MrSamsstudios Thanks for your response. It's the process for soundcheck thas intrigues me. Basically we all do the same but with our own tweaks that usually have a very good reason. ZX3? You could have fooled me! Without a better reference I seriously thought they were ZX1s. And yes, they are way better than the SX300. Unfortunately they did not sell that well in Europe so you regularly see every ZX speaker except the ZX3.

I’d love to try some ZX1s but I just don’t think they have the output I need. I had a pair of SX 80s and they were nice but those smaller speakers just can’t carry. I already own plenty of things to do the same thing so there’s no reason to buy something small like that.

@MrSamsstudios They are louder then the SX80s for sure! In my memory they could keep up with the old S200s. We did a small jazz trio for years with ZX1s. Also great for spoken word only (conferences and so on) and infills in smaller but longer rooms. We even did small disco shows up to about 100 people with them. With a sub to complement the low end. I am not saying they are perfect but they sure have a place and are nice little money makers. Plus that they weigh next to nothing and require no space at all.

Yeah, if I were to add on with fills it would be zx1s, I ended up getting 4 alto tx8s for the tiny fills and they’re actually not terrible. For a basic wedding where I need sound around a corner or whatever
