This video is a brief look into the 2 bedroom apartment from the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona, Spain. We stayed here May 29th-June 3rd 2024. The weather was outstanding, warm during the day, 75 at night. The location of the hotel was very central to shopping, dining, and directly between Casa Batllo, and Casa Mila. The high-end shops surrounding the hotel gave it a safer feel, but there were many beggars on the streets and reasons to be aware of your surroundings in this location.
The apartment was across the street from the main hotel which made it a slight inconvenience to access the gym and restaurant. In addition, the hotel room service was actually limited due to this location. (i.e. they wouldn't deliver coffee to our room for breakfast due to it being across the street but they would deliver other food items). You're supposed to have full room service as part of the hotel but it was actually limited.
The pool isn't really a pool. There are no lounge chairs and it's more of a decoration on the rooftop of the hotel. We did not use it as planned. The gym was small but had everything we needed for working out. The spa was also nice and you could rent the hot/cold indoor pools for yourself/family for a fee. (We did this and it was worth it!)
The "included" breakfast was not worth it. If you can opt out and save on costs, I highly recommend eating elsewhere. You can also get food for your apartment and just eat breakfast there. Most of the cafe's offer pastries so you will probably eat a lot of pastries. Our son prefers more eggs and protein for breakfast and this was a bit harder to find (anywhere we went in Barcelona).
The apartment access required a key access for the front door, the elevator, and the room. We felt it was safe. The balcony is not usable. If there's an option to get an apartment with a balcony you can actually sit on, it would be a nice addition. There was a balcony below us with a large table and lots of seating that a large group was staying in. They stayed up late and made lots of noise so if you're a light sleeper, be warned of this. The room darkening blinds were a nice touch and made it pitch black! The bed in the master was hard as a rock. The pillows were flat and we had to request extras to at least support our heads. The secondary bedroom had 2 twins that were super soft and comfy though...the kids slept great!
The laundry washer and dryer were extremely small but convenient to have for our mid-Europe break to launder all of our clothes. We brought laundry sheets so no liquid in our carryons! Since they were so small, I just had to do a LOT of loads and plan accordingly for time to dry efficiently.
Overall, the location was great, the size of the apartment was awesome, the amenities in the apartment were great and convenient, but due to the bed discomfort, being across the street from the hotel, the pool not being usable, and the poor food quality of the hotel restaurant, I had to rate this at a 4-/5. If doing it again, we would do either an AirB&B or just stay in the actual hotel. (But having laundry was essential!)
