Oh wow aren’t people cruel. I featured in this episode with Ben. I thought I’d update people on what’s happened since filming and some insight to the filming itself. So firstly filming is very very staged, we were told majority of things to say and when to say it, for example going back to bed when I was “tired” after filming I obviously got back up, it’s fake, it’s for the camera. We weren’t allowed to do a food shop at a supermarket, only a corner convenience store, they couldn’t get permission for filming in a supermarket. I was studying 5 days a week during filming and after qualifying for a job as a nurture teacher in a school. Me and Ben split about a year after filming, I’ve since settled and have a little boy of my own, Ben has a partner but still lives at home with his Mum. So no I didn’t “get my tubes tied” and I’m not a “useless mum” Be nice people, you have absolutely no idea how fake tv is.

I'm not understanding the hate towards Millie? It was stipulated several times at the beginning of the show she was in education studying childcare. As someone who also studied childcare, you usually work 2 days in college & 2-3 full days in a placement + coursework was absolutely insane (days of placement may vary depending on what qualification you're going for). To come home after working with children (& from my own experience, I was doing what all the 'qualified' workers were doing + extra, because as soon as someone comes in who isn't technically 'qualified' they'll treat you as an absolute skivvy.. I was far too naive to catch on in my mid teens) to a house full of kids & a newborn baby.. I'd be exhausted & 'lazy' too. It's no mean feat taking care of children & any mother will tell you that. Since the mother had an open door policy it seems all the grandkids would pile in while the parents worked, so Millie clearly helped out with them. Could she have done more? Probably. But she's got her entire life ahead of her to cook, clean, budget & pay bills. If her 'mum' ('mother in law') never once felt the need to boot her out & just asked for the odd helping hand with the kids - it's no one else's business when she & her partner move out. I know far lazier 30 year olds than that! I hope they've all found their feet, wherever they are & whatever they're doing now :) x

So glad our kids were raised with responsibility and common sense.We let them all stay with us after they had been on their own for at least one year. During that year they were expected to bank their rent money, help around the house, pay a share of the food, and utilities. Worked out great. Our house wasn’t a hotel and they paid down most of their bills and had money in the bank to purchase a home of their own. The couples finally learned to communicate with others.

Wow. Lots of mean and hurtful comments here. Cut them some slack. You know, we were all young once and had to learn stuff. Even when you do learn stuff, WRT the gas and electricity supplies, it doesn't necessarily follow that what applies to one building applies to all of them. With both gas and electricity there are isolators at the supply point and local isolators too. These are often hidden and not necessarily where you might expect them to be.

Although I love my parents I could not stand to live with them longer than I did (I moved out at 17). They agree too that it just couldn't work. While I am glad people get on with their parents are there really that little differences between the generations that they can stay together for ages?
@MelancolyMayhem7 жыл бұрын
angelstouch92. Everyone is meant to get out. Those little differences occur so that it makes it easier for parents and children to separate so the child can go off and create a life of their own. These people have those differences too. They just ignore them or it comes out in dysfunctional arguments/ways because it is easier for them to live that way than it is for them to grow up and make their own way in the world. And the parents seem to be just as codependent as the children to that dysfunction.

@Andrew I don't live in a bought house, I live in a rented house. Though I'm aware London rents are extortionate so you'd likely be better staying at home. I wish I could have stayed at home in a way because I do believe it sets you up better for life. I've lived in poverty for years now but I feel if I had stayed at home it would have been a situation like my brother's where a huge argument puts an irreparable rift in the family (my brother chose homelessness over living with my mum and dad).

Laura Williams plenty of people study and work at the same time, it’s not really an excuse. Just because you’re in education doesn’t mean you can’t have a part time job - I had one from when I was 16 and kept it all the way through uni before I started full time teaching.

My kids I will be making sure they have a job and move out by 18-19 unless they are saving for a mortgage for example I will allow them to stay longer to save up as once you get trapped into rental properties it's so hard to ever be able to save to buy your own place.

why didnt they find out how to turn everything on when they looked at the apartment. Young couples want to have a party,but can't pay their bills. I think this is true of most young couples and they are testing the waters. I spent our first paycheck on everything, food,,I thought a newlywed couple should have. we had a tiny referigerator,so I had to buy a lot of shelf items and only meat for two days,so we ate a lot of meatless caseroles. We were blessed to have received many house hold items. I never really cooked,because my. husband was the better cook,but he tolerated my casseroles. We ordered a lot of pizza. and chinese. take out. These two couples did well,but I think they should have kept their own places and if the parents could help,fine. THE PARENTS REALLY NEEDED HELP. I LIVED AT HOME UNTIL I WAS MARRIED. WE HAD A SMALL WEDDING,BUT. MY GRANDPARENTS HELPED. WE HAD A CHURCH RECEPTION, SO THAT CUT COSTS. WE DID FINE,RAISING OUR CHILDREN AND GETTING 3 COLLEGE DEGREES. IT WAS A STRUGGLE BUT WE DID IT. I WISH THESE COUPLES ALL THE SUCCESS and HAPPINESS

Only BBC 3 would fund young couples to 'test run' moving out. I never got that treatment and a lot of other people didn't. Seeing as the demographic for BBC 3 is 12-18 year-olds, this is an incredibly misleading program. Good job again BBC 3.

Start working at 16. Save for 2 years til 18. This is the age you should be out of your parents house at. Money saved during these two years should be more than enough to get set up in your own place !
