The power Rinse feature adds a full tub Rinse and an extended spin cycle. the colors and whites cycles are the same apart from the whites cycle being 5 minutes longer. This machine sold quick so I do not have it anymore. I miss the old chugging style GE washers.

I have the "hydrowash" (pretty much the same macine), but mine doesn't spin after the first drain - it just drains, then sits there and then starts filling for the rinse cycle, and it only fills about 25% (but fills fully when starting the load). It then agitates and does the final rinse. This is on the permanent press setting. How do get it to spin after the first drain (different cycle?) and how do i adjust the pressure so i get more water during the rinse? Could my valve thingy the rubber tube fits on be bad?

1:01:27 - Interesting of how when you take the Magnet off the Lid Switch, it causes the Washer to do a Spin Brake. 🤔 Even in my guess of why you did that is 'cause you don't want to wait until the Drum came to a complete stop on it's own 'cause of how long it'd take for the Drum to freely slow down & that's why you did that to have it stop quicker with the Spin Brake, right? 🤔

Hotpoint has always been GE's low end line of appliances. It's not that they don't do a fair to good laundry job. It's their designs that cause their own breakdowns as time goes by. Their transmission is positioned vertically off center of the tub --- so they put a concrete block and bolted it for balance when the spin starts.. Now let's just have a little think about that. First concrete will wear, and quickly with motion. When those bolts come a bit loose, then the concrete block can wiggle, causing lots of noise. Eventually the block will start to hit the insides of the cabinet and maybe make it walk around some. This is NOT good engineering. It is what in the industry is known as 'planned obsolescence'. The best top loaders I've ever found are the ones that model after the Kenmore/Whirlpools. Direct drive, electro-mechanical timer, large SS tub. Simple to use, works grand and easy to service.
@petermaz701
@petermaz701 3 жыл бұрын
All vintage GE filter flows also had a block as a counterweight to the motor, never had a problem with the block. The motor burned out on the one that we had so we replaced the machine we should’ve replaced the motor in might of still been working. They just don’t make them like that anymore. They were considered “workhorse” washers.

I had this washer beginning of 2019, however, it was the other GE version with GE logo, and had it for eight or nine months, and it was horrible. I always used highest water level, whites set to the longest wash time, power rinse, and it did a bad job with items only at half tub. Not to mention as it would fill for the rinse water, the washer would start to agitate with little to no water, and it was a fast agitate. It had ripped so many clothes, sheets, blankets I was spending more money on clothing than anything. How come did this machine do so good?

Definitely not. I hate HydroWaves. The filter flos and chug chugs are better. Mine only lasted 6 years. It did have electronic controls tho. It was actually given away to a friend for 3 years. And then after that 3 years it just died completely. Would not agitate or spin. Bad motor?. What kind of motor fails in 6 years.

Mine had the same tub brake and it would only engage when you opened the lid. It died tho after only 6 years. And after 3 years mom got a new machine and gave it away to her friend because she didn’t like the loud spin or the grinding noise during agitation. Also the spin cycle was really loud on it because the bearings were shot. And then after 3 more years, it’s dead. Well I’ve seen a chug chug GE washer last 20 years.

This washer sucks. Filter Flos and chug chugs are better. The HydroWave was just a very cheap design. Mine only lasted like 6 years before dying. The bearings were shot in that machine also. And then it started making this loud grinding noise during agitation. And eventually, the machine just would not spin or agitate. And it also cleaned worse than the Samsung. The only advantage of this washer is that it does not have a lid lock. 6 years is not a good lifespan for a washing machine. My Samsung reached the 5 year mark with no repair. That is proof that HydroWaves suck. Mine had the stainless steel drum and electronic controls tho. My mom actually gave it away to her friend after replacing it within 3 years. Forgot the model number.
