MUSCLE CARS Stuck in the WOODS Since 1972!

We discover THOUSANDS of cars stuffed in the woods on the side of a mountain in East Tennessee. This unbelievable collection belongs to Tellico Mountain Motors, a junkyard that opened in 1972, and still does business during VERY limited hours one day a week...sometimes. There are SO many muscle cars hidden in the woods...and lots of classic trucks, station wagons and random stuff from the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. We had the opportunity to visit this old school junkyard and we were only able to see a fraction of the whole collection. We plan to keep going back until we see it all.
In this video you'll see a 1965 Mercury Comet drag car, a 1967 Camaro, a 1962 Ford Sunliner, an early Plymouth Barracuda, lots of Plymouth Dusters, International Scouts, '70s full size cars, '80s compact cars, and everything in between. TONS of muscle cars, like Chevelles, Novas, Torinos, Mopars and even a 1970 Ford Mustang fastback and a Mercury Cyclone. So much cool stuff, piled up in the hills. I look forward to going back and seeing more!

The best time to go to a yard like this is in the dead of winter after the leaves fall off the trees & the snakes & bees are hibernating but just before the snow flies. You can see stuff you can`t see in the warm months.

My Ma's brother had a '67 Mustang exactly like the one @4:06. 200 and a three speed, AM radio with FM converter mounted under-dash, via a crude wooden slide mechanism which my Grandpa and him made, to slide it down and 'out of sight.' Never mind that looking in the car you immediately saw the wood, which made you look closer enough to see the FM converter. That car was from Pittsburgh or Philadelphia and at least eight years old when he got it, so it was a rusty son of a gun. And he kept it for at least ten years! I was still really young when I watched him learn that his '67 door handle lever and window crank wouldn't just bolt/screw onto his '68 replacement passenger door... I thought that was stupid on Ford's part at the time, but nonetheless became a Ford guy... I think he ended up swapping the whole door guts! '69 door guts, or at least the window portion, are different from '70 too... Those damned trees though - that yellow-gold Nova. I HATE seeing a tree do that to a car. I guess that's a case where the tree really did jump out in front of the car, or to its side as it were. That '67 looks like it might've/could've been a RS or maybe SS 350 - the 396 would've had a blacked out tail light panel. That Comet was sunk in the ground halfway up its front wheel bearing cap - and that cap was still shining like a '57 Chevy bumper!!!!

8:02. That body style of Thunderbird’s first year was 1967 and didn’t change much for the next 3 years. We had one one that looked like this when I was a kid. It has the Landau style roof option. You can see the remnants of a sweeping S shape that starts at the back top of the back door. There used to be a chrome S shaped trim piece (called a landau bar) with a badge in the center of it. The doors are suicide style, in that the back doors open “backwards”. Our particular car actually had alligator skin pattern on the vinyl roof from the factory. The backseats of these cars actually curved in the corners. Ours was a fully loaded dealer demo with all kinds of electronic goodies and a 429 thunderjet. Wild cars!

Very cool! I thought Lincoln at first because of the suicide rear doors, but totally forgot about the 4 door Thunderbirds. Definitely crazy cars...this particular one was pretty bad, but had TONS of usable parts.

@@HotRodHoarder Thanks! I have some fun memories of that T-bird because that was the first car I grew up with. This one that you found was missing the driver’s door armrest but if it would have been a loaded model like ours was just the armrest alone looked like the bridge of the Starship Enterprise with all the buttons on it! In 1977 my dad bought a brand new motor trend car of the year a Chevy Caprice classic. When my sister and I sat in it for the first time he said “well how do you like it?” I said, “ it’s OK dad but the back doors are broken.” I was so used to having the suicide doors I had thought THAT was the norm!! Lol

Wow!! Cool video, can't help but wonder how some of those cars ended up where they are, were they wrecked or pushed??? I remember back in the early 1980's there were cars in our family or friends had that I wouldn't have given a second look, but today things are a bit different. Thanks for taking us along!!! GOD BLESS!!!

It looks like some of them could've possible been driven up on the hill and parked. Not sure how they actually got around back in the day...pretty tight area and definitely steep.

I don't believe you can buy a whole car...just parts. I'm looking forward to making another trip. I didn't see any suicide door Lincolns, but I only saw a fraction of the place, so I'll keep an eye out next time.

For sure, I'd say a few of these cars could be saved. Some of them are rotten and scavenged, but I was pretty shocked at how good some of the cars were.
