Okay now I'm absolutely sure that Hotton sensei practices an internal gongfu style. This is exactly traditional internal skill that he teaches. My guess is Taiji or Bagua.

nyhyl this is more like traditional karate but yeah I see what you're saying

Dinzel Walker-Smith It would be awesome if this was traditional karate but I've never ever heard the slightest hint of these concepts in karate in any given instance. I know of chinkuchi, gamaku and muchimi in karate but what he describes here I only know from internal arts exclusively. I even don't know other gongfu styles who uses these concepts unless they consider themselves as internal branches (e.g. internal wing chun). That's why I'm so convinced of it. But I always love to learn if I've missed something.

Matthew Mele They propably won't since the way they train is completely different. They train very different skills and usage of body. But Hotton sensei's karate comes as close to it as no other karateka I know. It's like he is doing a completely different style. I love it.

He's not pretentious. He doesn't need a higher-seeming rank than godan. No grandmaster or tenth dan or fifteeth dan like some outfits have done.
