I do no understand why people leave trees so close to there structures to that's not a good idea, bad things can happen in rain and wind storms. Just my thought.

It makes a lot of sense to build in a forest because that's where the natural resources come from and available so cheap. But lacking knowledge of what happened 12,000 years ago, and 12,000 years before that, and 12,000 years before that, and... we don't expect what we don't know. Forests are known to burn but so rarely choosing to build a house of wood from the forest IN the forest is a logical progression of thought.
