Goodness.... I don't know one Aussie man that's even interested in the Christmas tree... except to say it looks great when it's up and decorated! The one exception would have been my Grandfather, who loved Christmas and did all the decorating including the tree, sadly he died when I was 5, while I don't remember him, I do remember the wonderful decorations. Big red and green paper balls and bells that opened out in a circle, then clipped together, the paper was like honeycomb in the different shapes... it was the 1950's. I've always decorated the tree and because I have collected so many baubles over the years it's a real production! 🎄🦘

Same here, been together for 19 years, hubby chops down the tree, places it into the tree stand, and I decorate everything! We are both very happy with this arrangement !

My husband and I have been married 36 years and I’ve been the only person in our family to put up/decorate/take down our Christmas Tree for the past 30 years. I make it a festive process with Christmas music playing and lots of lovely tea! It’s nice that you two compromised and shared the tree decorating experience together. 🎄💕

My English husband of 47 years, complained so much 11 years ago having to recut the bottom of the real tree off and fit it into a stand that I went to Home Depot and bought an artificial tree on sale and I've been using it ever since! Good and bad points about each kind...😐

Ohh - I have a door bell solution for you: but an old school bell or a hand-bell from an antique shop and mount it in the right hand side of your door where I can see it’s not symmetrical. It will balance the area up and make the asymmetry look deliberate. If you use a school hand-bell, you can get a mount for the wall and people can take it off, give it a good ring and replace it. My friend used to have one all year round. It was also used to call in children back to the house for lunch!! Lovely vlog by the way 😀

Hi Josie, I think it’s not just about the tree that often people disagree about. Especially now what the world has had to endure for so many months now, we feel we don’t have control over the situation and we want everything else to be ‘perfect ‘ since Christmas usually means being with family and friends . For many of us that’s not going to happen this holiday season.So we project our true feelings and pick on an inanimate object to have some ‘control’ . You are correct ; there are other things we need to worry about , but we know it’s not about the tree. As many of us followers have expressed, we cannot thank you and Charlie enough for letting us follow both of you (and Dickens and Dexter) on your journey as you started off in this beautiful home and all the new adventures you have discovered even with what has happened in the world this year. I use a long ribbon and attach it to wreaths on each end, loop it over the top of the door. This way you have wreaths on both sides of the door.

My husband is a retired magician and I was his assistant. We did about 100 shows in December and always had arguments. I think being so busy and stressed and also holiday shopping and baking just frayed our nerves. Now that he is retired I realize we don’t argue anymore during the holidays.

Whilst I do agree that the best ornaments should obviously be on the tree, I think it needs a colour. It probably looks much better in real life but on camera it just looks like lights. The doggie tree would look fuller if you added small plain opaque white baubles. The dogs would then stand out. I'm a perfectionist in things that I make but I don't obsess about Christmas. I don't believe in wanting everything to be perfect because nothing is. ❤️

Your description of Charlie hangry had me DYING. My husband has like three stages of hunger.... hangry, questioning everything, and then just full-on meltdown. It would be funny if the meltdown weren't like Jack Jack at the end of The Incredibles.

I can safely say tree day is always a very smooth day of the year. Christmas shopping is more of an issue as my husband hates crowds...its been very easy this year! One positive! Xx

This year my wonderful husband put up and decorated the whole tree. He did quite well and I love it. You are going to enjoy your padded bike seat. I have one for my road bike and bike 30 + miles on weekends in the warmer weather. Oka has dachshund items available. I am making mince mini pies this weekend. No snow here yet in the N US....but cold!

Hi Josie another fabulous vlog Phinella was sitting on the bath rack in your ensuiite, in Master bedroom. My husband used to decorate the Christmas tree because he wanted to. I didn't like it because he had so much on the tree. I have been doing it now for a few years and loving it. I love watching what Charlie has for you, it's always so thoughtful. There are such high expectations on Christmas tree day. We want it to feel like the movies all cozy and romantic. And when its not we are disappointed. We bicker too even though we always vow that we won't. 40 plus years! It is a lot of details to tend to so no wonder. I say lower the expectations and laugh about it. We are trying. WOW! I am thrilled to see that beauty of a pearl sweater (the first one) from RI sailing on to the screen! What I find interesting is that I checked the website and you do NOT dry clean - you toss it in your home machine! Loved the tree bickering scenario! Don’t have that issue (my husband is more of a grinch). Wait until you have kids! Your corridor near the stairs where your lanterns are on the ground, would be a perfect place for a big Christmas tree. Love the sweaters! Hard to find affordable ones in the states. I can't afford the prices you all pay so I go looking for similar styles at facilities that I can afford. Thank you.

Love your Christmas wreath for the front door! Here in the US we use “door hangers” for our wreaths....they are hooks that hook over the top of the door and hangs down the front of the door with a hook on the end for your wreath! No nails no damage to your door at all....Amazon? 💁🏻♀️

We call it constructive conversation instead of bickering! as long as a compromise is made and we can make both of us happy (and the kitties and horses) we always embrace those discussions. Looked the Phinella was going to take some swimming lessons.

My fiancé and I have lived together for 4 christmases now and we fight every year on what colors / ornaments belong on the tree and which are too tacky. He’s a very sentimental person and I wants everything to color coordinate so it’s always a fun time 😂

Wait until you have kids and they want to put all of their school crap all over the tree 🤣 then you will definitely all argue. That scene in a bad moms Christmas when her kids do the tree and KiKi smiles and does a full 180 of the tree....yep that's me every year!!

@@imahappycat Josie is doing a “Giveaway” every day of Vlogmas. One of the criteria to enter the daily competition is to spot where the pheasant (Phenella) is in the house. The second criteria is to let Josie know how you have shared her videos - Facebook/Instagram etc. Also, remember that if you see Phenella at the beginning sequence of Vlogmas, it doesn’t count. You have to keep looking throughout the video to see if you can spot her, and then leave a comment letting Josie know where you spotted her, and include where you shared her videos, and voila- you can enter the competition!!!

Your real tree is nice, but to be honest, there were much nicer trees. BUT, I think that it’s not up to you, but up to Charlie - he is like a spoiled child, so everything has to be the way he wants or nothing. 🤦🏼♀️ I think that that kind of people are ready to go even against themselves, if that’s in contradiction with others... 🙃 I’m sorry if I’m wrong. ☺️ But, it was obvious at the end that even he wasn’t completely satisfied with the tree. It’s quite empty at the top. He didn’t want “bushy” bottom, so he chose empty top... 🙄 I think that you’re too nice and compliant. Not to mention that above all, he should be gentleman and let you decide... 😊 Wish you both all the best and beautiful first Christmas in your gorgeous house. ✨😊

My husband wouldn’t know where to start with tree decorations it’s a lovely job I enjoy to do, Christmas music glass of something nice & I can loose myself ... It’s a special time I love it ... tell Charlie to relax you’re doing a fine job ... think phinella was wanting a bath ... who did I see in the fireplace with the sausage dog tree?

When my husband was alive we didn’t bicker over the tree - he just sat back and let me do it 😂. I see Phinella was sitting on the edge of the bath. The house is looking very festive with all the beautiful trees and wreaths.

I’ve started having Josies oat milk hot chocolate as a treat in the evenings! The oat milk is a game changer ... can’t wait to see what the giveaway is tomorrow.... phinella was on the bath rack behind you when you were getting ready in the bathroom!

Fennela is on the bathtub 🛁. You could use, as a temporary measure some of the nice baubles you took from the other tree - to fill out the doggie tree - then just add - dauchound ones when you find them. If you want to hang wreaths at the entrance area - you can use ribbon and hang over the wall weighted down with a log. For your front door you can use ribbon or a ‘door hanger - they make wide ones. Try Burford for the door hangers. Loved the new glass baubles. My partner never fiddles with the tree decorating - and I am moving baubles etc for a week until I am really happy.

Couldn’t care less about having a perfect tree so can’t relate lol. My tree is a 50 year old hand me down from my grandmother and has a serious tilt to it 😂 I love it

My parents always argued on Christmas tree day!!! Us nope, we love decorating the house takes at least two weekends. My hubby just wheels the barrow in through the house to bring the logs in lol. We have tiled floors downstairs so I just follow him out with a mop!!!!

So beautiful! I saw Phinella is loving the camera lately, first she appears to be loving the "Sausage Dog" tree from the hearth. And secondly waiting to have a cozy bath on a chilly December night! Charlie is hitting all the marks on your Advent Calendar this year! Yay! Charlie!

It did crack me up as a while ago you said you knew there wasn’t enough sausage dog decs for the whole tree and now it’s proven! You resisted the I told you so. I’ve resisted many of those in the lockdown otherwise they’d be bickering most days😂 All your trees look amazing
