Yesterday I just played that part. I was losing focus when the bull head guy came in, and aftee taking care of him and a few Plagas, I was running out of ammo. The loud chanting made me feel overwhelmed. Very nice touch of fear an pressure.

It wasn't. In the first one, you could kill all the enemies until they stopped coming and the scene would end. This time, you can keep killing them forever but the scene won't end until you touch the stairs. It's stupid.

Yes it is harder because they added more enemies with head tentacles and some minotaurs on hardcore/professional

@@CatManDoom84 I'm not sure if it's the way KZfaq records audio or how @BuffMaister has his settings, but the chanting was much more noticeable with the headphone setting on when I played wearing my headset. It sounded like a horde of Ganados were surrounding the house giving power to those attacking. I feel like that was the intended effect.

Bro I didn't even bother with that side quest. I knew for a fact I wasn't gonna have the resources to do that, and I am also stuck on this house defense part on Hardmode.

​@@Austin_B97 Just try to kill everyone in the first floor, secure the windows, when they attack the second floor with the stairs try to keep they down. When the minotaur comes, just go back to the first floor and try to evaden him, its not really dificult

Alright so I did it on my fifth try. It was done on hard mode, starting with 30 rounds for the fully upgraded Punisher, fully upgraded knife, and no ammo for the fully upgraded shotgun, as well as some resources. As soon as the scene begins, grab the wooden board near you, then push the shelf in front of the window. Use the board to cover the window by the stairs, which helps to prevent them from cutting you off when you try to flee upstairs (side note: they seemed to kind of give up going through that window for some reason, as the boards stayed there for quite a while). Grab all the resources downstairs and and let Luis fight the enemies while you go upstairs to grab the rest of the resources. One or two of the enemies will try to follow you upstairs, so keep an eye on the ladder leading upstairs. Once you finish grabbing everything upstairs, stay near the ladder and use your knife to knock down any enemies coming up the ladder. An enemy or two might try to come up the stairs, but sometimes they immediately jump back down to fight Luis for whatever reason. Keep knocking down enemies near the ladder until you feel its safe enough to jump back down. Attract the attention of the ganados and let them follow you upstairs. Stay at the top of the stairs and shoot the enemies gradually as they come up to you. The Punisher is good for this since it can pierce through enemies. They will stagger on the steps and fall backwards, staggering other enemies they bump into. At some point you'll want to craft a flash grenade, if you can. Once the second phase begins, run over to the two ladders and knock them down. If you get cornered, just keep your back to the wall and parry any attacks coming at you, and wait for the melee prompt to appear. Melee will clear the way for you to get around them. Depending on how many enemies there are in the room with you, you may wanna use the flashbang to let you start using melee on them. Once enough enemies are gathered upstairs, jump downstairs and let Luis distract some of the ganados upstairs. Let them come down to you one by one and pick them off. Eventually the bull dude will appear. Focus on killing him. If you have any grenades or shotgun ammo, use it on him. Remember you can evade his attacks by pressing B (or whatever button is). I personally let some of the enemies gather downstairs before going to the top of the stairs and funneling them together as they come up. At some point I guess the bull guy died as there were several enemies trying to come up the stairs and I was just shooting through them all when Ashley showed up and the cutscene played. It was very exciting and I was stoked that I'd gotten through it. General tips: Use the stairs to funnel enemies. Knocking down the ladders isn't always worth it since you might get cornered. If cornered, just keep parrying until you have an opening. Flashbangs are awesome and can instakill the mutated ganados. Luis will distract some of the ganados while you are on a different floor. Save grenades for large groups of enemies or for the bull guy. Edit: I went back and looked at a clip I recorded at the very end of the scene and apparently I didn't kill the bull guy. The cutscene played even though he was still alive.

Yeah in hardcore it’s a broken piece of sh**. You eventually won because you got lucky. It all depends how things fall. Capcom really fu***d up on this. It’s literally a miserable experience that you just want to get over with.

Try this. Instead of restarting the game, there should be a button to adjust the difficulty at the typewriter while saving if I'm not mistaken (check bottom for the options, should say something about changing game modes). Also, dying multiple times should give you a prompt if you want to lower the difficulty.

I just beat it on hardcore and it took me a few tries but holy shit it feels unfair. I don’t know how they expect you to react to all these enemies coming at you from all sides with limited resources

@@jonm.678 This’s first time I heard someone say that hardcore mode is unfair. Everyone I know said hardcore is more engage and very fun because enemies are more aggressive and smart enough to force you to use every tricks and options in the game. Also hardcore still give you plenty of ammo and healing item, more than enough to deal with all mandatory fights, unless you waste too many of them for whatever reason. Hate to say this but your complaining sound like skill issue, you play on hard mode for veteran, what you expected?

That's what I thought too, got stuck here for 2 days. Turns out you don't need ammo. Just need to stand in the right places, and then touch the stairs as soon as the bull guy shows up. The game gives you zero clue as to how this part works, just wants to waste your time. It's fucking stupid.

Item spawns are random for the most part. If you continue to die then the adaptive difficulty will kick in and start to give you what you need more often. Sounds like you got a bit screwed by it though ironically, lol.

​@@Austin_B97you don't get flash recipe until after this? But yeah, this tactic is pretty much the only way to do it without having to get lucky. First phase stay a top the ladder and shoot enemies coming for the stairs. Stage 2 you're just better off running around, jumping down from the ladder, picking off enemies to run back up the stairs, then jump back down the ladder, rinse repeat until the timer runs down.

@@phiavir5594 I bought the flash grenade recipe well before the house defense scenario, can't remember at what point though. Its essential in my opinion.

The controls are fine they just suffer in this fight in particular. I also think it showcases the confusing choice to have only a few weapons use the laser sight. It makes it so that theres really no reason not to use the first pistol for the whole game, and the TMP is also considerably worse. I'm also not a fan of the inconsistent stuns on hardcore.

@@therabbi9848 The default controls are pretty rough, imo. Better with adjustments, but even then I still don’t like how they feel overall. Feels a bit like tank controls to me which seems out of place for this game.
