Once the owners of the house realize how profitable the rental income has become - they may not renew the rental lease and take it on as a business for themselves. This couple doesn't own this house so all the work and maintenance and money that they've put into it will be a benefit to the homeowner.

It became worthless. All the hotels on the show have since closed down. The tourist market collapsed just months after this was filmed.

Maybe they are long leases like tenures ,in years not months, I don't know,

The 4 bed on the beach was the best business potential, they would have made up the rental difference in bookings.

Keep in mind that the market collapsed immediately and no one made anything on rentals.

How are they going to rent out rooms, do all of the changes, if it is not their property???

People who do that always end up getting booted out from the property in the end Jennifer Jensen. I have seen so many people losing lot's of money over my 29 years of being on the road, cause they thought they could just rent some random property in a foreign land and start a business where they are not paying any tax of the income. Oddly enough, these people almost always come from a country where that kinda business would never be allowed.

If they think that they can just rent a place and start a rental business on tourist visas, then they are less intelligent than they look. I think it's great that they are moving down there. I have lived a lot in several latin american countries and love it. But if you start competing with the locals on business, while you are there on a tourist visa, renting out a property you do not own, then you will end up getting in trouble That is for sure.

look like u are not such a Latin America specialist :) I just checked airbnb and they are still in Nicaragua and renting out rooms.

Why is this agent so obsessed with them blowing a hole in the wall?

House 1 is incredible on the outside for sure. The inside is a strange layout. That shower is scary. It is a workable home still. House 2 is definitely more bigger and offers a little more. It is a good home in general. House 3 is more Nicaragua style for sure. It is a workable home in general.

I'm probably missing something but for a couple who has taken 2 years to save and most likely do their homework is moving to a country where they do not know much of the language, cannot get a job (relying on vacationers to hopefully stay at their place for income), and then rent a place??? You mean to tell me there isn't another central American country that has WAY more opportunity for ex-pats that is not so economically depressed? Its great they saved and are making a change though. Oh, and what is with the agent wanting to "blow a hole in the wall" ??? Geez!

I would rather pay over budget for a move-in ready spacious rental than stay on or under budget and spend money on a rental to update it to what I want.
