After the catastrophic performance of D&D in the later years (the word clowns comes to mind), HBO is very brave to let the show runners do these kind of videos. But so far I think that they are doing a great job and have a good vision. I am looking forward to this series and just hope that they don't jump the shark and "kind of forget" how to write coherent scripts like their predecessors.

well it looks good i guess, lets just hope the series is actually about the dance of the dragons and not about fighting the patriarchy ... nevertheless im really interested how this turns out, they cant blame a lack of material this time

Dude, sexism and gender literally play a vital role in the Dance of the Dragons. You can get offended all you want, but the patriarchy was a very real thing in medieval times.

@@abigailzimmerman6573 no they don't really play a role, its about two powerful women fighting each other to get their son on the throne, well that's the short very basic version... so no its not about fighting the patriarchy but about playing the game of politics, intrigue and all sorts of tactics. Actually, if anything the patriarchy benefited them greatly. I would have thought that ASOIAF would have taught people like you a thing or two about the power of women in the past/the world of IAF... maybe you missed the point but the patriarchy was what got them to power and what kept them in power, and their sex was a weapon not a weakness ... the game of thrones, love, deceit, schemes, war, loss, lies, dragons, survival ... those are the vital points, not some modern "fight the patriarchy" bs and no, don't worry, i don't get offended easily, im not a snowflake, as to your statement about history, yes most of the world had patriarchal societies, as in ruled by men. There was a damn good reason for it though. A lord wasn't a lord because he just decided to be one, a lord was a lord because he was trained in arms from a young age to be a super elite warrior, a tank of the ancient battlefield, and his lands, those he got to be able to afford the best weapons, armor, diet, horses and so on to be that tank, to be far superior in combat to the common levy(there were no standing armies back then). that's why they ruled, because the whole system revolved around them, around their strength ... hopefully you can see why it would make zero sense to have the whole system revolving around the man if it would be the wife calling the shots, she isn't the heart of the whole operation after all. And don't try to tell me a woman could do just as well, there is a massive strength difference. There were tons of powerful women though, if you read a bit into it you may notice that their strengths lay in a totally different field and their sex was by no means a hinderance, it helped out quite a lot actually Sources: im a bibliophile in love with history/read all of the books related to ASOIAF at least 4 times each on the low end

@@martinmullender-taeter5163 Dude stfu there were plenty of fat kings who werent strong at all pls read an actual history book. Also, rhaenyra doesnt want her son in the throne she wants to be the one who sits on it THE QUEEN. How is patriarchy a benefit to them? All the mess happend because the heir is a woman, you think alicent would have be able to put her son in the throne against the king wishes so easily if rhaenyra was a man? The dance of dragons wouldt have happend in that case. Yeah patriarchy is so cool thats why got is full of women being raped and underage girls having kids and getting married. After all the things that sansa and dany went trough you say that the patriarchy was good for them? HOW

At the end the dance of dragons happened because it was easy to take away rhaenyra right to be the queen because of her condition as a woman so yeah because of patriarchy the targaryens lost all their dragons. Deserved!
