This was the easily the funniest episode of HOTD or GOT. From Aegon screaming "I declare war!" over and over until dude shut the door, all the way to Otto telling Alicent he didn't want to hear about her sinning I was dying laughing 😂

Tbh the only part that made me smirk was Otto’s face and the way he asked Aegon what action Ser Criston took. I think you’re forgetting how funny GoT was at times with the dynamics between characters like Tyrion, Bronn, Tormund etc.

Barrett points out what's been eating at me too. Alicent doesn't seem like she ever properly bonded with her children. So now they have to go elsewhere to seek comfort. Most likely because she had her kids at such a young age and always had to play Queen and nursemaid to Viserys threw their youth. Which makes all her kids more sympathetic to me than that abomination known as Joffrey.

I think Otto is absolutely right that Aegon squandered all the goodwill by killing all the rat catchers. He had all the sympathy of having his son murdered but then turns around and murders innocent people because he doesn't know which rat catcher did it. It could also look like he was so incompetent that he had to kill all the rat catchers just to kill the real killer. Also, if he had been patient he could have rounded up the rat catchers and had Blood identify which one was the killer.

I think Ross was right about which twin won the fight. Both twins got sliced on the knee, in the BTS show the stunt coordinator mentioned they choreographed the same injuries for both so you couldn't tell which was which after a certain point. I think good Erryk actually won the fight because he calls Rhaenyra "your grace" before he falls on his sword

Dameon’s response to the question of what to do should they not find Patch, was told to us by Blood when Cheese was holding a knife to the queen’s neck. “A son for a son he said”. We don’t see Dameon use this term (a son for a son), so he said it after Cheese had posed the question.

I was also really glad that in this episode we got some scenes of Heleana that were more than her just saying something weird that we need to read into. Her character needs more depth and it makes you actually have to sit on and anticipate everything she says instead of just knowing it’s going to be some sort of vision

What's wrong with Daemon that he could sit at the table with his characteristic smirk. And then think, it was "a mistake" would be well-received. I can only hope that now he flies off to Harrenhall, falls on his (metaphorically), and takes the blame. Which I think all the leaders of the houses would buy.

I think the “good” brother survived the twin battle, because he says “your grace“ as a show of respect before falling on the sword. I don’t think the other brother would’ve been so formal.

Patch is skinny, but the dude has muscles. Iggy Pop style. You don’t want to get into a fight with a quick- twitch, athletic swordsman with a reach advantage. When the sword fights come, I expect him to move like a swashbuckling Pirate. That would be cool. The dancing master taught Arya how to dance with a sword and be effective. I bet Patch has been training hard for a long time.

I feel like part of the funeral procession scene was cut bc in the preview, it showed Alicent and Halaena running thru the street, surrounded by the small folk, wearing their veils. Or does that happen in the future? I can’t see Halaena putting herself among the masses again. Also in that preview, when people were running they showed a woman in a red cape/cloak with hood on and I hope that’s a young Melissandre!

I think the main reason they didn't want Aegon to be a part of the funeral procession, is because they wouldn't want to let the small-folk/public to further see him as "weak". At that time, people did not want to see their king crying-- a king is supposed to be a symbol of strength, dignity, and justice. Women are supposedly fragile, so ofc they can weep, but God of 7 forbid that men grieve over their dead child🙄

The problem with the hanging of the common folk, is that they are already struggling for food. Then the king hangs some of them

I think they both got injured on the leg which I mean they probably fight similarly and would attack the same openings on the same armpit I think that Rhaenyra was keeping track of who’s who and knew her boy came through. If Arrack won he still would’ve tried to kill her also for the “glory” Christian Cole spoke of which also goes with him saying “you parted us” which can only be said of the brother on the blacks side of this conflict.

I’ve been listening to the Fire & Blood Audiobook and I know that y’all made the decision not to do so but the audiobook is about 26 hours in length and probably 7.5 hours is dedicated to the House of The Dragon story and I have to say hearing yalls theories/predictions (some accurate some very inaccurate, I won’t say which ones are which) is really entertaining!

My decision to get ahead of the show was driven by the fact that I had gone to A Wiki of Ice and Fire and searched a couple of our main characters of the Dance of Dragons and saw the death dates for those characters and that pretty much spoiled a lot for me so I figured if I had spoiled key plot points for this show that I might as well go all in and read/hear what happens to our favorite characters. This isn’t a spoiler since I’ve heard yall say it in a previous podcast, but I can confirm that the death & carnage of this story makes Game of Thrones look like a peaceful Sunday picnic
