In the beginning Daemon said a son for a son to Rhaeneys and later on blood said a son for a son to Haelena. I wonder were they learned that phrase from.

It's interesting how people pick 'teams'; for some it's about which side has their favourite characters, for some it's about what side they deem more moral, for some it's about who they think would make the better monarch, and for some like myself, it's some about the principles of inheritance. I think people often talk past each other because we chose based on different criteria. I'm obviously not pro-monarchy, but if there has to be a monarchy, I'd rather have one where men and women can both inherit; either as the eldest, or by choice of the previous ruler. By age, and by choice of the previous ruler, that is Rhaenyra.

Well in the books Helaena actually begged Blood and Cheese to kill her instead of her son . Also both of the boys were alive and they made Helaena choose between them . Finally she chose the younger Maelor instead of Jaehaerys , who is the heir . Cheese says to Maelor " you heard that little boy ? Your momma wants you dead " and blood decapitates Jaehaerys instead . Well Luke got eaten by a dragon and now it's equal on both sides .

If I have to read one more comment harping on the fact the "Blood & Cheese" wasn't dark enough. Dude, who cares if it was different from the book. A 4 yrd old was decapitated in front of his mother as we audibly heard it go down. That was PLENTY of disturbing on it's own.Even by GOT standards. They built the tension and executed it (no pun intended) masterfully.

In the books Blood&Cheese is much different. First off, Aemond is never mentioned to be the target, and Rhaenyra is not the one to incite the mission. Daemon sends Rhaenyra a letter from Harrenhal (in the books he is already there) that says- “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys shall be avenged”. B&C sneak into the Tower of the Hand, which is not guarded as heavily as Maegor’s Holdfast, where Aemond was, and they head for Alicent’s chambers, who is getting ready for bed (Criston and her are not a thing in the book). Helaena and her three children (Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor, who was not present in the show version) visit Alicent’s chambers each night before bed, and were just about to visit. When they get there, they find Alicent tied to the bed and her bedmaid strangled. Blood bars the door and Cheese takes Maelor and tells Helaena to choose which son of hers will die. Helaena pleads that they kill her instead but they refuse, siting- “An eye for an eye, a son for a son. A wife is not a son.” Cheese tells her that if she does not choose then Blood will grape her daughter and they will kill everyone in the room. Eventually, Helaena chooses Maelor, her younger son. Maybe it was because she thought he would be too young to understand , or perhaps it was because the elder boy, Jaehaerys, was Aegon’s first born and heir. Cheese holds Maelor up and whispers to him- “You hear that, little one, your momma wants you dead”. In one clean motion, Blood strikes of the older boys-Jaehaerys’s-head, and the two take off with it. When the guards finally burst through the door, they find Helaena grasping her son’s headless body to her, mad with grief. So yeah, Blood&Cheese is much more tame in the show.

Ser Cristian Coles post was supposed to be outside of Heleana’s room protecting her and the kids. Instead he was with Alicent

Helaena is one of the purest souls in this story and just experienced the most horrific tragedy first hand. She was completely powerless to it. 😭

Team Black, but mostly because out of the two people trying to sit the throne, one of them isn't a rapist who enjoys watching kids fighting. Rhaenyra isn't a monster...so Team Black all the way. Not to mention Corlys, Rhaenys, and Jacaerys also aren't monsters. Love Aemond, Helaena, and Alicent. Otto is a snake, and Crispen is a butthurt little douche. So yeah, Team Black. I did read the book.

Blood & Cheese was a lot more darker in the book then what they showed, but the tension leading up to that moment was still great. Also we got a name drop in the epsiode for the Dalton Greyjoy aka Red Kraken😈, but they'll probably save his appearance season 3. I just hope we see the lads & bloody ben this season !! 💯🙏

You know, from the beginning of the show 2 years ago I was in black team. If you asked me why (as everyone else's aswer) - Daemon. During whole this time I was rewatching different reactions and majority was "black" with very seldom "green". And I've came with realisation that I can't side with any team. I can only sympathise with few characters like Heleana. Because they're still one family. And we all know what will become to Targaryan's and the dragons. They will literally extinct. What can I say about the episode - I do agree that Ema's acting was great. But it was Tom who made my jaw drop. His acting made Aegon alive and 3D if you know what I mean😏

Overall I thought the opening scene was so freaking phenomenal, seeing Winterfell, the Wall, and of course Cregan Stark himself. Loved it. Emma D'Arcy's Acting is remarkable, Aegon having his fun with Tyland at the small council was so great 🤣🤣 Still not sure how to feel about Alicent and Criston as well as how Blood and Cheese was done but other than that... a good first episode. Great being back in Westeros. Bring on episode 2.

Yeeessss we ride with the team with the interesting collection of characters! Team Green! I was very pleased to see Aegon written with more nuance this season. It can be debated if his compassion for the smallfolks was genuine, but I believe that should be the way. Wasn't really happy with all the choices they made for him in S1 but hopefully this season would be a better trajectory. :) And yes, both sides are questionable, and people need to stop being judgy and just have some fun and enjoy this show.

I will literally never pick against whatever team House Stark is on. If they are Team Black then it's Team Black all the way baby! It's a shame they cut out a lot of Cregan and Jacaerys story. They basically bonded over a period of time of hunting, training and ended in the two swearing a vow of brotherhood.

Rhaenyra said Aemond Targaryan, she wanted the person who killed her son, not "a son for a son".. I hope they make this clear with her reaction when Daemon brings her a 4 year-old head... Although, if the boy is Aemond's, that would be some karma there. Anyway, now I'm neither team B nor team G.. There are no Starks so I guess I'll be watching just for the drama.
