There’s not really a mystery about it. Pretty much what happened to Aerea is that Balerion took her to the ruins of Valyria and they got attacked by some Firewyrm. The downside is that it would probably have made even little sense. The upside would have been a fantastically choregraphed battle where you're kinda willing to ignore the rest. (See Battle of the Bastards.) Arya deathblow was absolutely the right decision. It was the execution that failed. They needed a typical "everyone else fights to distract him" scene.

@Lynn Short Though horribly realized Dany going crazy was the perfect end for her character. The seeds of a god complex and someone expecting to be loved and accepted by the people realizing they weren't and being rejected were there almost from the start. Great plot/character arch, horrible execution.

@Monty Litt I still haven’t gotten over GOTs seasons 8 horrible ending. I still haven’t forgiven the writers and producers of GOT for that. But I think that George RR Martin is going to be more involved this time around in this new series, which is good. Plus this series is based on Fire and Blood which is finished book.

HotD have diff writers, but yeah the writers of GOT series seriously botched the final two seasons. GRRM asked HBO for 10 seasons of 10 episodes and they agreed but the writers did us and GRRM dirty by ending early and slashing a lot of leftover great story.

Without source material, these guys weren't actually all that good! Sure, they could direct a good show, but without a creative source, well, we all saw season 8.

@Nicholas Hadley okay I somewhat understand however in the GOT world there are characters in the Summer Isles and Narth. According to the books the people there are academically and weaponry advanced. They make bows out of polymer type material.

Absolutely! If they write it correctly, which seems promising since Martin is involved, then it'll be on par for GoT S1-4. Fire and Blood is a great read if you get the chance to read it.

The source material gives it a solid foundation, but it reads more like a historical summary of major events written from the perspective of a Maester. So like other people said you have to read between the lines. George rn Martin said he enjoyed the pilot though and the new showrunner has a vested interest in this more so than D&D. Even if the writing isn’t early game of thrones level I think it will still be around like The Last Kingdom levels and most definitely better than the last seasons.

Yep, read fire and blood and the two novellas this was based on, the Rogue Prince and the Princess and the Queen. This shit is peak GOT seasons 1-4. Full of politics, backstabbing, schemining, war and death. But this time, its all with dragons. I have faith this will have that same magic as the first 4 seasons because a) they have finished source material to follow- the entire Dance storyline is complete, and b) GRRM is involved. He's back to writing and producing and he even said he wrote a few episodes, and he's happy with it (FYI, he was also heavily involved in seasons 1-4). So I personally am hyped and hope that former GOT fans give this a shot. It's definitely worth it.

I'll add that Fire and Blood is more about reading between the lines when it comes to conspiracies and such. World building basically.

@BestKill68 How I am spoiling shit? I'm simply stating facts about characters appearance in season 1. If the King is in all 10 episodes and only 1 of Rhaenyra's kids with her first marriage are in the first season, as well as Alicent's kids then the dance ain't even close to happening. If you see what episode these 4 kids are in, its Episode 1 which means Episode 2-10 are flashbacks.

The civil war itself was only 2-3 years long. They have a lot of story to tell before the dance such as introducing the main characters such as all of Rhaenyra's children and all of the dragon riders gaining their dragons respect and knowledge of how to use them. If they were to skip all that plot it would be extremely confusing for the audience who have no prior knowledge to what they are watching. Remember GOT the show covered an entire book for each season. HotD series is covering 1 book and not even the entire book. The writers of HotD get to tell a story of equivalent episodes per season as GOT and potentially the same or more seasons than GOT with a fraction of the information that GOT had. GOT cut out a ton of story from the books because they had too much story that couldn't be told in roughly 10 hours a season. HotD has the potential for specifics and much deeper and more enticing dialogue because they have less story to interpret therefore they can cover the entire story. The dance itself is a fraction of the timeline that the build up to it covers so if they gave us only 1 season of build up and 2-3 seasons of the dance the audience would be missing key information and the characters involved would have no backstory to identify their personalities and actions.

@BestKill68 Alicent's children with Viserys I Aegon II, Helaena, and Aemond are only in 1 episode in this season as well as Daemon and Laena's two children Baela and Rhaena. Of Rhaenyra and Laenor's 3 children only 1 Jacaerys is in this season and again only in 1 episode. This means season 2 will introduce Rhaenyra and Laenor's other two children. Laenor will die, then Daemon and Rhaenyra will wed and have 2 more children. Viserys I dies after Rhaenyra has her 5 children. This could lead to the civil war starting in season 3 with Viserys I dying in episode 9 or 10 of season 2 or he could pass in episode 1 of season 3.

Not in this timeframe I think. The long night was thousands of years ago I think. This is a few centuries before GOT.

They kinda told the back story when the “children” were introduced . The ones who was with the original 3 eyed raven . They said it was a war against man kind and the “children” were loosing so they created the night king to fight against man
