It's been a year since I kickstarted my indoor jungle, so here's a tour of how it's transformed my space so far. I'm really happy with the progress and how my plants have created a calming and soothing environment to live in.
Create your indoor jungle with common, accessible, but still beautiful plants that won't hurt your wallet.

I’ve never had root rot with a syngonium and I am an over waterer. Mine are in 2/3 potting soil and 1/3 perlite. My hoya are all in terra cotta pots and I water them really well every 2-3 weeks, my lisa has done great.

Beautiful collection! What's worked for my Hoya Australis Lisa is growing it in an East facing window (northern hemisphere), giving it something to climb, and watering thoroughly when the mature leaves get a bit too bendable (for me that's every 10-14 days). I fertilize just the same as my other tropical plants, for as long as it's continuing to grow. Giving it something to climb seems like a big deal because, once I did that, my longest vine grew about 3 feet in 4 months (the other vines have been slower though). Good luck!

I enjoyed this video. One thing I keep hearing a lot is "died of root rot" it sounds like you are an over waterer. Do you have a moisture meter? that can help you tremendously!! And if you find a plant has too much water in it, try folding up a bunch (and I mean a BIG bunch) of paper towels under the pot and push it firmly into it. The paper towels will wick extra water out of the pot. You may have to do this a few times. I used almost a full roll of paper towels on 2 plants I recently bought at a big box store that were totally water logged. But a moisture meter is a MUST have, honestly. Plants don't drink by the calender, they need water when the soil is dry. Over watering is more about the frequency of water you give it, not necessarily how much. That took me a while to understand. Only give water when the soil is dry. Plants will recover from under watering, but they may not recover if the roots can't breath and rot from over watering. So err on the side of under watering. I always say, when in doubt, wait! They won't die if they are held up from water for another few days or a week. I love all your plants and they look beautiful! And I love the one plant in a wine glass!!! That is really cute!

Yeah, over watering was a big issue, especially since it was my first winter with so much of these plants. It was definitely a learning experience and I feel I'm better equipped (at least i hope) for the next winter hehe

Dont seperate the string of hearts roots. Just put the whole thing on top of soil in a pot and the roots will find their way to the soil and soon the moss will be covered by the plants.

Hi there from Japan! I found you today and enjoyed watching😊🙏💞Oh, yes, move the Calatheas out of a position directly by a window, they enjoy shade and that's why your makoyana is growing pale washed-out leaves. I would take cuttings of your Hoya bella and plant them into a half bark and pumice mix in a self-watering pot with a constant supply of water. They like an airy moist mix. They will root and grow lusciously😊🤲💞Ceropegia woodii likes high light and to dry out before the next watering👍

Hi Jaye, I really enjoyed your video and house plant tour! Your plants are gorgeous! I love your presentation and good close ups of the plants. I have had good success with my Hoya australis lisa. I have had her for a year now and she has really grown. I keep her in a chunky mix (regular potting mix, Orchid mix, perlite and LECA balls) and in a plastic pot. I treat her like a succulent. I give her one thorough drink of water and don't water her again until she is almost completely dry. She can easily go for a good 6 weeks in between watering in the winter and easily 4 weeks in the summer. Her leaves are nice and firm. I am in Australia and I have kept her on a warm sunny window sill (where she receives direct/dappled sunlight for about two hours a day). I made her a hoop trellis and she is enjoying stretching up onto it. I wish I could send you a photo! I treat just about all of my Hoya as I would a succulent. I hope this helps.

You have the plants displayed so nicely, they look good. I threw my Syngonium ‘ White Butterfly’ into my Betta 3 gallon tank, it was struggling and is doing great now, plus he loves hanging out in the roots. Oh, love your cute dog! 🪴

Very nice glass vase ,the plant looks so nice there, The Hoya Lisa I suggest learn how the plant need water, if if droops and feel thin , and just spray instead of the normal jug water , some plants just need a few drops of water ,

Nice plant collection. In regards to the Hoya Bella, try placing it in early morning sun to help with its dehydration. Also try feeding it garlic water, fish fertilizer, black tea/coffee or sprinkle it with coffee grounds. It needs a little more water than the hardier hoya. Try giving it a tad little more water to hydrate those leaves as the entire plant may not be getting enough water.

I have much better luck with syngoniums in terracotta pots. Terracotta allows roots to breathe.
