Welcome to Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire, about a 50 minute drive from our Hideaway Cottage, and one of my favourite places to visit.
Burghley is a palatial Elizabethan prodigy house, it was built by William Cecil, 1st Lord Burghley and Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth l.
Walk with me through the State Rooms and see it’s historic collections of paintings, ceramics and works of art.
Then I’ll take you into The Park & Gardens at Burghley, designed by the famous Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
A few scenes from Pride and Prejudice (2005) were filmed at Burghley, it was the setting of Rosings Park, Lady Catherine de Bourgh home. Burghley has also featured in The Da Vinci Code (2006) and The Crown (2016) amongst other TV and film.
I hope you’ll enjoy this lovely warm October day exploring the Burghley estate with me xx
