The newlyweds embrace big furniture pieces in their 450-square-foot studio in the Upper West Side of New York City. Moving from their 1 bedroom apartment in California, the couple has struck a beautiful balance between form and function. Smart storage solutions have allowed them to maximize their space and even host a 9-person party! They live in a converted hotel building which brings an extra layer of charm to their beautiful home. This has to be one of my favorite apartments out of all we've seen, from the light-colored wood pieces to the shelving around the windows. And instead of just holding their stuff, they can still do what humans need to do, which is have the right furniture to stretch out on the sofa and have a bed big enough to get a good night's sleep. Sometimes function is the best choice. Great energy, too, from this pair who didn't have to act for the camera. I wish them more years of health and happiness.

I'm a Bronx native, who moved to Tacoma, Wa in 1990, with my then 6 year old son. I wanted more bang for the buck. Now I'm in Ohio, still banging the buck. I love your furniture, and the practical and functional way you utilized your space. You've made it a home that brings you joy and peace. The location is great... numerous bus and subway lines, walking distance to Central Park, 4 seasons, lots of great supermarkets and restaurants, and the theater district is easily accessible. I'm sure your cost of living there is still cheaper than living in Cali. I'm an artist, and my apartment does not lack color. Since you both work from home, I understand your space needs to feel calm, and professional to an extent. I feel your pain, regarding no dishwasher. Maybe it will come with the next place you live. In the meantime, enjoy being a couple in the greatest city on the planet, in my opinion.

Agree, it's not terrible looking, but it doesn't look like there is enough room for circulation to walk around the apartment. I get having the stuff you need, but a few of the items (maybe the chair, the storage by the bed) need to go to make it all work

It's just past 4.00 am here and I can't sleep due to body locking up (recovering from pelvis fractures after being hit by a car 😥). Hobbled to the couch with my walker and watched this on silent, so that I don't disturb my family. Well 🤩 Can I just say, even without sound, I enjoyed this video so much! This couple! The energy and joy! Gorgeous apartment where the old and dated marry nicely with the contemporary. I will definitely watch this again later on today!!! PS that oven door not opening fully 😂

Great apartment. A coffee table with a top that can be raised to table height for dining/work and lowered when necessary might be ideal....(usually comes with storage). Baskets on top of the armoires will provide more storage if needed. Enjoy 😊

These are the kind of people I usually find kind of insipid and tend to disregard. But not these guys! I love them. They seem so genuinely lovely and in love. Plus they are smart and funny. I think they've done a wonderful job with their apartment. I really love the shelving that wraps around the windows. I will also keep in mind that smaller apartments can work very well with normal sized furniture. Inspiring. I wish them all the very best.

Hang the TV on the wall and put a long bench with storage space under it, and get rid of the coffee table. I got rid of my coffee table and that extra tiny space where you can walk now feels so much better.

I like their design style and overall vibe/energy. Also, I have the same white pillows with the Black X's from CB2. :) Small spaces can be a challenge if the wrong furniture is chosen, but they managed to have regular size furniture pieces, without making the space look cluttered.

I have the same size sink and kitchen and have a child too. Have never had a dishwasher and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on not having one. I don’t particularly like doing dishes but I do listen or watch stuff while I do them.

Beautiful apartment, great space solutions! Especially love the bookcases surrounding the window. Only thing I'd change - put that huge espresso machine somewhere else. The kitchen counter space is so precious and would be much more useful for the 3 meals/day prep.

I have been a homeowner for 25 years of a 1950 house with no dishwasher, except me. I'm the dishwasher, lol. When it's just two people, dishes can be rinsed & washed while food is still too hot to eat. Or, sometimes I'll put the water & soap in, hit the pan hard with the sprayer, and leave that one pan. With families, it's harder to go without the actual dishwasher appliance, though!!

A bigger day bed or a full size day bed hack would give them more seating but still also storage. Murphy beds are good too. Bins on top of the armoire would still give them storage to replace what's lost under the bed. I've seen sofa tables with stools work for a dining room table too. I love their wedding stuff everywhere. Both of my sisters did the same thing & it's such a special touch.

👉🏽 The table should be multi functional. 👉🏽 TV in the wall (Just sparkle before moving out) 👉🏽 Utilize Vertical space more 👉🏽 Utilize more multi functional pieces 👉🏽 I LOVE the couch ❤

I imagine a pull-down projector screen in the window cavity and have bigger swheeled storage under bed. A 50% clothes declutter would help too. That couch + the colourful books are real statement decor!
