Everyone who says Santos has not been found guilty of any crimes has conveniently forgot that he pleaded guilty in the fraud case against him in Brazil while he was in office. That's a conviction regardless of where it took please.

maybe the problem is not the politician but the vetting process to allow such a person to run. The newspapers reported santos, and the republicans looked the other way and he was allowed to run. Again, maybe if all of congress (not just trump) was held accountable as an American for when they commit a crime, they should have to go to court in front of a judge and a jury and allow for due process to take place. Then maybe we might have more of Congress working for the people, by the people, and of the people the way our fore father's had envisioned, intended, and wrote down in the constitution that they all have to swear to uphold.

People keep misusing the term "due process." Santos was not denied due process. Congress did not vote to convict him and send him to jail without a trial! He will have a trial with a jury and they will decide whether or not he is guilty of a crime. All Congress did today, after a thorough investigation by the ethics committee, was determine that Santos was not fit to be a member of Congress. Santos has NO right to be a member of Congress--no one does. Rather, it is the VOTERS who have the right to send the person of their choosing to Congress to represent them. And as we saw with Santos, he lied about everything and duped the people of his district into voting for him.

I think people misunderstand the concept of due process and think that it only me being found guilty by a jury (or judge) after prosecutors have proven guilt beyond reasonable doubt. There’s levels to this. Santos’s due process was the ethics investigation, which he declined to participate in. They took away his job, but didn’t throw him in jail.
