House Wrens Nesting

There is a bit of a housing shortage in Backyard North this spring. The house wrens are moving into one small nest box and they are not low profile neighbors. Not too far away a pair of Chickadees are nesting and Mr Wren in addition to yelling at everybody, tried to fill up their nest box with small sticks, but the tough little chickadees weren't having it and removed the sticks all over the deck. In the meantime, a pair of Tree Swallows have been checking both the chickadees and house wren nest boxes so I'm going to put up one more and see if these diverse birds can all share the yard in peace and harmony. Stay tuned for an update on the Chickadees.

Mr.Wren is mighty busy. One tiny twig at a time. Wow. So fun to watch though!!

Love this. I have some house finches making a nest in a hanging pot of flowers. I watch them from my living room window.

Mr houe wren will destroy the other bird eggs 😢 he needs several tiny wren houses full of sticks all for him.. ... please ad more wren houses ❤❤❤❤❤

My House Wrens have arrived. You always know when they’re back because it’s not quiet anymore! Boy they are noisy. I think a lot of my other birds can’t stand them. The House Wrens tend to fill up their bird house with tons of dummy nests, but last year we definitely had one or two sets of babies while they were here.

How to discourage the wrens from taking over the bluebird house? Put up more wren houses? It seems if you did this they would take over the whole yard/property? Just wondering how to keep my bluebirds safe from these little devils 😈

Put our 2 new bird houses in our trees out back here in Central Kentucky. Took 3 weeks and we just had a house wren move into the first one today, 3 others are watching it work, hoping they don't kick it out after it does all the work and just move into the other house.

They are fun to watch. One pair just fledged these and now another wren couple is using another house. The noise continues! BB
