laurette Poulin no, it is not. It is transitional, no matter how many “likes” you get. The speaker points out why the interior is transitional.

oltedders Thanks for the question, Mr. Oltedders. A lot of people seem not to understand what “transitional” means but are certain this house is not it. They might enjoy looking up the meaning of transitional decor: having both traditional and contemporary elements. The designer explained that this house is transitional because it has elements of traditional style, in this case farmhouse, as well as contemporary. For those who think this is a completely contemporary home, they can look at photos or videos of truly contemporary homes and they will see the difference. For instance, contemporary styling favors straight lines. She explained how she designed furniture that had a touch of farmhouse style, but she made it more sleek. No bric a brac. Unlike farmhouse, contemporary styling follows the design sensibility that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. She made many decisions that blended the styles together. I think that if people watch the video again they will be able to point out the various choices the designer made to create a beautiful transitional home.

You nailed it, thanks so much! Modern farmhouse has such a broad definition and in the case of our clients, we went far more contemporary with subtle farmhouse hints and avoided rustic farmhouse. It's a contemporary, refined approach. Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much! It was an interesting space to light since the ceiling is all skylights. We decided the indoor/outdoor Wall sconces were the best approach and there are a few baseboard 'nightlights' throughout the upper hall as well.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Understanding the clients definition of modern farmhouse was key for me as farmhouse is not typically a favourite either. Once we understood they wanted a refined, contemporary version we were off to the races!

@@nikkifisher2170 I agree 150%. As designers we are working for the client. After all it is their house and they have to live in it. After reading comments from viewers, I think often that people forget that people hire designers to help create a cohesive polished look and functional space that they envision(Design Concept) but do not know how to achieve on their own. The end result is a collaboration between client and designer.

We will call it farmhouse😉 That way she gets what she wants 😂 I Love It!

I think that is the major consensus on every post. This is not a farmhouse.
