I've never heard of this band until November 9th, 2016. That was the night that my house burned down. I was very overwhelmed and knew I needed encouragement. When I was finally alone, I turned on my Christian radio station. The first song that played was Good Good Father by House Fires. I could not believe that that was the name of the band. God used this very song to speak directly to me. The amount of peace that washed over me was unreal. He is a good Father and has been diligently caring after my family through this entire situation. I'm 29 with a wife and two kids under the age of 3. My dad was diagnosed with cancer in July and two months later passed. I stumbled across this group, especially this song. This is my anthem at the moment. At a time when i am wounded by God, yet still know he has a plan, this song speaks to my heart. My father was a good father to me and my 5 siblings. My Father God is a good father who meets me in my most desperate moments.

At the end of the day, we sing our praises to an audience of one, and I think when it comes to genuine worship, no amount of repetitiveness is unnecessary. I highly doubt God is sitting on the throne saying "Oh how I just wish they'd stop saying the same thing over and over again.." Worship is worship. No matter the structure, whether it be more traditional or more contemporary, God hears our praises nonetheless, and it's such a sweet incense. I was molested at the age of 7, I never processed it as a teenager, or even as a young man. My walk with the Lord revealed to me that the moment I chose to never speak of, could very well be responsible for the mentality I developed towards sex, women, perversion, and sexual immoral endeavors, like Pornography. I grew up in church but as soon as I turned 18 I ran far away from God. Long story short, while on the run, life kicked my butt for many years. I finally was so broken and couldn't take it anymore. Depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, bitter divorce, binging, purging, self hate, anger, name it. I was a broken mess. I realized that my Father in heaven never gave up on me, He still had a plan for me. He was waiting for me with arms wide open. I will never forget that night in 2010 in my room while watching TBN by "accident". I completely surrendered give my life back to the Lord. It was the best I slept in years. What PEACE I had! 😭 Nothing would ever separate me from the Love of God. NOTHING!

Last weekend a dear friend (Collin) and co-worker of mine was hit by a drunk driver who was going the wrong way on the interstate without his lights and was killed instantly. He loved Jesus, and loved people more than anyone I knew. This song instantly started looping in my mind when I received the tragic news of the loss. God is good. He is a perfect leader and a perfect father. He will look after Collins two young children. God is good.

I would like to request that the grammar be checked over in the lyrics. The line "I've heard a thousand stories of what they think your like" is beautiful and poetic and conveys a thousand words in a phrase, however the word "your" in this case should be a contraction for "you are" so it should read "you're" not "your". Some of the phrases in the lyrics have the proper use of "you're" and others don't. These things are small considerations and certainly don't take away from my worship experience whatsoever as I know what you meant and I can simply listen and be moved by the power of the spirit that draws me into a place where grammar is obscured by Glory... However, there are some who would read that and be put off by it and it would take away from there worship experience... whooops! I mean 'their' experience. ;) The songwriting is elite, the production is elite, the musicianship is elite and everyone in the video clearly loves Jesus and has revelation of the Father's heart and this makes joy rise up in me! I just want to say that just because you have pain doesn't mean God doesn't love you. God really is a good, good father. I still believe that after chronic illness, depression, and loss. I’ve never had a dad because he died when I was 1. My mom god married and I felt like I finally had a father that can love me and be there for me and teach me. But he was the complete opposite to what me and my brothers expected. He would beat my mom and abuse us physically and with hurtful words. I’ve grown up not trusting people and god. But at the age of 16 at soul survivor I gave my life to god because he told me that every time I would cry in my room by myself, every time I was depressed, every time I was hurt and abused, HE WAS THERE. HOLDING ME. He’s a good good father and will never forsake me nor leave me and he loves me more than anyone can and ever will.

Life is meaningless without God.

An hour ago, I was listening to this and singing along while walking outside, and suddenly I realized pain was gone from my left forearm. It was exercise-related and pretty much prevented arm curls and the like. But gone now! A special someone had quickly prayed for it on the phone a bit earlier - a quick little sentence in a normal phone conversation... but the Father heard every word! We truly have a Good Good Father, who's also our Healer! Thank you Jesus!!!
