Such rousing playing of a great.selection of.marches by the household cavalry band. Was so good to see the BBb or EEb Tuba being played so well. Combined with the robust bass trom one couldn't be out of step. Enjoyed the flutes and clarinets in Arromanches. So good!

Hi geofftownsend, the tuba played here by the player in red is definitely a Bb not an Eb. Unfortunately they're only rarely seen in marching military bands these days, presumably because of the weight. Great to see and hear it played with such aplomb! And I agree with your comments about the bass trombone and about the other instruments.

Loved the close encounter with the traffic cone, well done not tripping, no squeaky notes and kept in step.

At the top of the hill and opposite is a statue. Who. When going back to barracks I've seen one of the guards salute eyes left. They don't all do this. Does the statue have an association with a regiment.

There is a memorial statue since 2011 to honour the Irish Guards. It was created from metal scavenged from the Iraq war. That memorial rates the salute. The sculptor, Mark Jackson, was a member of the Parachute Regiment and also the son of a former Chief of the General Staff.
