Exactly because the mentality behind that question can easily go around and hit the heat too Was it a failure that the 3 against Boston in game 7 was a miss instead of driving to get a lay up or wait to set the offense? If Jimmy didn't miss that shot against Boston maybe today he wouldn't be hitting these crazy shots of the last 2 games

As a 50+ year Bucks fan, I'm so proud of Giannis. As soul crushing as this playoff loss was, for him as a human being, his mates, and the fan base, he didn't lose his composure, he didn't pass blame, he, in his own measured temperament, his path to success, steps to overcome to succeed. It's not all sunshine and rainbows. In these raw, gut wrenching moments, he showed everyone, I hope, what it takes to live they're lives in pursuit of greatness, happiness, whatever goal it is in life that they might want to achieve. I think we forget, over time, or lose sight of these things. He is a true leader, an example to all of us, as humans, of how we view life, success, and loving acknowledgement of our fellow humans. I am humbled by this kid, and I hope we never lose him. I know I'll never lose sight of him and what he brought back to me, as a Buck's fan. I just love him.

You and Giannis can call it "steps to overcome" or "not all sunshine and rainbows" or "gut wrenching moments" or "you can't win them all" or however you want to describe it. It's all just another way to describe failures along the way. So although Giannis does have a great attitude about failure, he is refusing to call it what it actually is. The Bucks are a championship caliber team with the best record in the NBA but got beat by the #8 seed in the 1st round. Their season was most definitely a failure.

I've definitely been in Shaq's shoes. Like he said, that's the mentality many of the greats take on so that they never stop improving. Jordan always made it person. Kobe had the Mamba Mentality. It can be a powerful driver, but it's an incredibly difficult way to live. Thinking of losing as a failure is exhausting. When you take on Giannis's mentality, you not only continue to work to improve, but you also are able to have joy after losing, because you know you've learned from it and that it'll be valuable for you moving forward.

He just sugar coated the fact that they did fail and went personal on a reporter that didn't went personal on him, the dude asked a fair question strictly within a professional context and Giannis brought up his family? Even he realized that he went too far and had to dial it back. No one achieves their goals every single time, but if you have a goal and fail to achieve it, that's literally the definition of failing. The thing is, failing is part of success, failures are the best stepping stones for future successes, but for that you have to recognize them as such and work on what made you fail, if you don't recognize them as such, you are never improving on them, the Bucks have been suffering from that for years, we all know the main reason why the failed, we all know the main reason why they have failed every season but one since they became contenders, Mike Budenholzer, but since the Bucks as an organization refuse to look at themselves and see why they didn't win, it just keeps happening, literally the only time they won was despite Bud yet they are the only ones who don't see that, and it's cause this kind of mindset.

It is a failure when you're the #1 seed, wirh best record in the league, "supposedly" the best player in league on your team and you get knocked out in the 1st round, 4-1, it was championship or bust this season, a team like the Bucks and a player like Giannis had about notify to gain from this season, but a championship So don't talk to me about steps to success Giannis, like you're an upcoming team. Giannis presented it very similarly to how I was explaining the differences. Still, some individuals will interpret the situation as Shaq did, and others as Kenny and Charles. Some individuals have their minds made up that things are specific ways and only can be those ways.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, what a great man! If you consider how far he has gone it's incredible. Being born to a very poor family, with parents that could have been deported at anytime due to their illegal migration status, himself and his simblings being in citizenship limpo although being born and raised in Greece, until he became 18 years old. He didn't only become an NBA MVP and Champion but he is able to make a point like this, in a time that he is clearly frustrated, in a foreign language, without losing his composure or politeness. I am Greek and he makes me feel extremely proud! He is one of the greatest that we have, a truly great man not only great athlete. Because the coach is a moron crowder is sitting on the bench why? The coach is the reason this series went the way that it did. He didn’t even bother to double man pure stupidity. Giannis missed basically 3 games and I don’t think he’s fully healthy it swong the series. Props to the Heat

Also Giannis can’t shoot free throws in the playoffs, at least not yet. That’s the steps to success he needs to take, just go home and shoot free throws until next season. He missed 12 that game.

Respect to Giannis man. Just cos you don’t win every game or every year doesnt mean you failed it just means you can be better!

I respect each one of the people we saw in this video for speaking their minds without loud volume, or insults. This is how we (myself included) should be able to conduct ourselves. Differences of opinion, and they still had class.

To show composure and restraint to not make it personal shows the level of professionalism and respect Giannis has towards people in general.

Very well articulated by Mr. Giannis, fantastic example of Giannis upbringing in being taught " How to think " as opposed to " What to think " 👏🏾✊🏾

I agree with Giannis!!! And I admire his explanation of why he believes it's not a failure. To call it a failure is to negate all the importance of the journey itself.

He plays at the highest level of basketball and makes millions doing what he loves.. I don't see that as a failure at all.
