Ugh I’m sorry I’m spamming your comments, this topic is just so good! Plants I’ve regretted: 1. Tradescantia - they get leggy and ugly no matter what! I’m done trying 2. Homalomena Selby- she’s a catfish plant , ultra lush and beautiful but if you don’t have a rain forest she’ll just get hideous and die!

Hey David, for me, it would be the string of hears, pearls & turtle.. First, these were impulse buys, everyone was raving about them so I had to have them... If I had a do over, most likely wouldn't purchase them. You are a cutie, Thanks for sharing and helping us feel like we're not alone in this plant journey

Now that you are in a house maybe look in to making a rainwater collection barrel off one of your gutters(depending on the laws in your area). Your plants will love you even more.

When do you sleep! Lol so much content. Take time to breathe too🥰 (Love all of it though) I agree if it's too much drama, it's not a fun hobby. I like challenges of some kind but I don't have time with 200 plants for some. I'm finding I like some plants of the same, better than others because of growth. I like tiny Brazil leaves but not big floppy. Some I like the color pattern, better than another. If I could I would trade down or up....I wish it was easier and less awkward to trade within types. It's about what works in OUR houses/spaces/watering types etc. Besos

Last comment I SWEAR: I’d love to see a video of plants that didn’t make it, but you want to give another try! For me it’s the Dieffenbachia Reflector and the Calathea Burle Marx

No more calatheas (except network) and peperomias. Your Hoya is cute, the simplicity of it makes it even cuter. I don’t want my house to seem like it’s a reptile cage (humidity wise) and so I only buy what will thrive in normal house conditions. Love your vibe! I’m also in Texas but Dallas area.

@@lovelyconundrum4221 it’s the type of calathea. It’s called network. It’s not as vibrant but definitely not as finicky as the pink calathea.

Buy API Stress Coat for your tap water. You just add a drop or two to gallon of water to make your tap water safer for living things. It was made for aquatic animals and is sold at pet stores and Amazon. The bottle lasts a long time. All plants will appreciate it, marantas improve extensively.

I'm never buying another fittonia. I know some people grow them beautifully, but I am terrible at growing them.

I can tell that you really love your plants. They are very pretty. Your Chelsea and the philodendron are beautiful. You should periodically turn the philodendron so that each area gets adequate sunlight. That would prevent it from unevenly hanging out over the pot Take care of those mealy bugs before they spread to the other plants. Isolate the plant from the others. Wipe each leaf with a damp cotton ball of water and peroxide, and then thoroughly spray entire plant with water. If you think you don't like your plants, I'll send you my peace lilies. My peace lilies will make you appreciate a tree leaf.

Just Love your personality! Yes we all have that plant that we wish we had left in tbe store regardless of how beautiful. Mine was the Stromanthe trio star is one of my most finicky plants but she was so beautiful I coudnt guve her up, so I learned that she "hates my tap water." And loves humidity and now "we" are 😊

Same with me!😀 I love calathea roseopicta but I knew I was not going to buy it because it is so finicky with tap water and all. So I just carried it in my arms throughout my shopping at ikea and enjoyed it, admired it and then left it back on the shelf. It helps.😁

I’m with you. I fell in love with it thanks to Amanda at Planterina. But that plant hated me. I bought 3x thinking it would get easier. No matter how much i did (water, humidity) it kept crisping up. I said screw it and in trash she went.

😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂 I have done exactly the same. Then my husband will pick it up thinking that I don’t have the money for it an buy it without asking me. So I think it’s kind of funny.🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂. I have learned to tell him that I just don’t like something. It’s slowly working. ☺️

Make sure the prayer plants not in direct sunlight, their foliage can burn. Mine is about 10' away from my window in a bright room. I fill containers with tap water and let it sit for a few days before I water my plants.

Hey David, I add a bit of water conditioner for fish tanks to my plant water to remove the chlorine from the tap water. Love your new place

OMG!!! I was looking at my plants today and said I would never buy these again and you make a video. As beautiful as they are, I won’t get another maranta, calathea or zebra plant. They are the death of me. 🤦🏻‍♀️ the love/hate for these plants gives me anxiety. So, I’ll just let the ones that I currently have live out the rest of its days and I won’t be buying anymore. 😭

Oh man we all have those plants haha. What do I regret? Bought a piper twice, and it died both times. So pretty, but nope never again. And I have lost a few calatheas, but I think once you get their care down they ain’t too bad really.

As much as I love begonias and calatheas I will never ever ever ever buy them again cuz they look terrible within 3 months. They don’t like my environment and I really tried to dedicate myself to mastering them. And .... your chelsea is super cute! I love plain green especially if it’s dark like that.

For the pilea I had a hard time too and then I just gave up and didn't pay attention to it and that's when it started thriving. I legit forgot about it for like a month.

My pilea is doing pretty well. I don’t know if this is it but I feed it monthly with a fertilizer that contains iron. Also, I need to be on top of it and not let the babies get too big otherwise the mother plant will start dropping bottom leaves.

I’ve done a lot of impulse buying and end up with some plants that I thought would be easy to grow but turned out fussy and look bad no matter what I do!! Philodendron Birken, Brazil and monstera adinsoni

I give all of my prayer plants distilled water because the tap water is too hard here in SA.

It just gets harder to care for plants when you have a lot😁like I do😅And then they don't get the attention, and I'm still trying to learn that, but when I see a beautiful plant I buy it😂When will I learn

I have a similar sized varigated maranta and I use one of those water bulbs and try not to touch it. I do use rainwater tho.

I love watching your videos and want you to keep them up even about plants you don’t like or wouldn’t buy again. We all have some. That variegated maranta I’ve looked for one everywhere in my area and no luck at all I’m still looking after two years.

I have that prayer plant and am a newbie with plants and it is surviving well and easy to take care of I usually neglect it and the best part is that the leaves closes at night that is why it is called prayer plant and I use spring water

Part of being a plant parent, some plants are just not happy in some homes, I am learning witch ones in good at growing and witch ones siet, no matter what I give them. I've have a few I've lost this year and I'm ok with that, and one I'm struggling with, a geo geogenath, but for me that's part of the fun. Nothing beats watching your baby's grow

I use systemic to not ever have to deal with mealies again. Since you don’t have cats indoors anymore maybe try that. I e also left mealy infested plants out on my porch and insects came and ate them. You can try that too.

I have a red, lemon lime, and silver band maranta and I love💚❤💚 them sooo much, I propagated my silver band! My lemon lime caught spidermites🤦‍♀️but its bouncing back😊!

The paraiso verde is the biggest disappointment to me at the moment. The leaves fall over and it’s just not growing the way I want. Great video! Thank you for sharing! Love your positivity and vibe 😊 you always are smiling and happy and we enjoy seeing that! 💚🌿🌱☘️

Thanh you David for another enjoyable video! I like the Pileas but as they get older their growth habit changes. I have the Mother plant and two of her babies that I potted up separately and now they have their own babies. I can’t say they’re my favorites but they are definitely survivors and thrivers in my house! 👌🪴🥰

My regret is the Majesty Palm. They are sold all over in spring. Cheap! Super duper lush & tropical. They seem to all be grown in Florida nurseries. I'm in CA Zone 9b. No matter how much I research and care for them, they are annuals. Perhaps, it is due to the fact we have no humidity in CA? A similar hardier palm is the Kentia Palm, but those cost $$. Don't worry, I didn't get negative vibes from this vid. This is knowledge based on experience. Thanks for sharing!

I accidentally stumbled upon a variagatef miranta. I got it from home depot for like $7. I thought it was a plain miranta with a few variagation. So far I have not had any issues. I give it tap water however I do think the change in water is what changed it. Thats what happened to my other miranta

Try a pole even if it's just a stick or bamboo pole for your moonlight philodendren. You can also use filtered water on your Marantz. Just let it warm to room temp.

The plants I regret buying the most are my peace lilies and my Brasil Philodendron. I regret getting my peace lilies because they always get brown tips on their leaves , even outside. I see pictures on the internet of Brasils and I see mine and get sad. I've had it for over a year now and it hasn't grown much, not to mention it lost its yellow variegation. i have a golden pothos in the exact same light situation and it's thriving

Same!!--peace lily. It looks so bad. Brown tips on almost everywhere. I might try to cut them off & if it doesn't grow any better, it's 🚮

Norfolk island pine…. Have it had 7 years now, but it drops a branch now and then or a few straight side branches. I try rain water and southeast window. It is my problem child of plants.

I think some plants are having a hard time at our houses other than others. I also have problems with the same plants. I keep mine alive but I never buy them again, they're are out there because we keep buying them and killing them.

I dont like calatheas, marantas, pileas or crotons, ferns..lmao just not the vibe for me. Like i love them when other people have them just not for me Im all bout philos, cacti/succs, hoyas, alocasia (even tho i can never provide them enough humidity lmao) syngoniums.. idk ahaha i dont know how to feel bout orchids or b.o.p yet.. isnt the plant world beautiful? So much variety and everyones taste is different! I love it! Variety is the spice of life

I got the exactly 💯 same problems with the same plants. 90 % died those the plants you really liked the most but also gave you the most headache. I won't buy these plants again. It's not worths it.

David, use Bonide Systemic Granules in your soil when you repot or mix them on the top of your plant's soil and it'll take care of those mealy bugs, thrips, and other annoying pests.👍🏼🪴

I dealt with mealy bugs in my Hoya compacta for about 2 months and then finally used systemic granules and took care of them in one treatment. The plant started shooting out new growth within couple of weeks.
