I mean...technically it did exactly what it was supposed to do. The fence caught the car, kept it on the racetrack. It's not really meant to remain intact or anything.

@@NolanRempel no it really is meant to stay intact to stop the debris from flying into the crowd, it’s meant to redirect the car onto the track and stop all the crap from hitting people.

If that catch fence wasnt there that car would have gone full speed into the crowd and youre complaining that debris made it past the fence? Id love to see you design a fence that could possibly contain all the debris of a car torpedoing into it at those speeda

​@@Boxscot49watch problem is, these are not FIA fences. Fia fences are designed to exactly do that. Redirect the impact and also stay intact. Watch any major F1 Crash, or even the Nordschleife. Its sickining how the owners of this track didnt install proper safety fences in this specific spot.

@@bulversteher that wasn’t the statement. He said the fence failed. If the fence kept the car from going into the grandstands then it didn’t fail at all.

@@bulversteher If the fence actually failed, either it would still be standing and Franchitti would have been dead (or near dead) from the sudden stop, or it would have been gone and the car would have made it into the stands. The fence did exactly what it was designed to do, keep the car in the track while dissipating as much of the energy as possible before it got to the driver.
