@Jack_WafflesАй бұрын
That is because sheep think there is some sort of law that requires them to give two weeks notice. Your company "wanting" two weeks notice is not legally binding as you are considered an "At-Will" employee in the USA, with the exception of Montana. Being an "At -Will" employee is also the reason they are able to fire you or lay you off without notice and without cause. If you had a legally binding contract with the company, such as a Union or a personal agreement you signed, the terms and conditions would most likely be written into the contract.

@@timg2973 it can be literally written in the union contract that a company will not and can not have lay offs! Depending on what is negotiated. People that worked at nummi before Tesla took over the plant in Fremont were union and were paid a fair wage. That’s what unions do! Fight and negotiate for its workers so they could live near the plant instead of having to live in Modesto or somewhere in the valley and have to commute to Fremont. I have friends also that work for Google, Meta, Tesla since they are considered tech companies, I see why they are not unions and incentivize its workers with stock options. I’m happy your sis still has her shares, she might need them now or in the future with all the lay offs. And on a side note: ( A lot of construction jobs that are union, fire, police, IBEW all union jobs that pay $50/hr to $100/hr) that’s why Musk is against them! I thought most of the jobs are in Austin? Why are people in Houston affected? If anything, those workers will come to Houston to find work. That’s where the jobs are.

Yet, Elon Musk is asking for $55 billion in salary. Absolute insanity!!
@timg2973Ай бұрын
he made a bet. he bet that within 10 years he would take Tesla's value from 65 billion to 650 billion and other goals. No one company in history has ever done that. if he failed he agreed he will not get one penny from the company. He has not been paid a single check since 2018. shareholders agreed to it.

No one buys Tesla in Texas 😹 and California help him but he bites the one that find him last Tesla sink.
@DarianDTАй бұрын
That's true. I was in Houston last year for a week. Driving around I could see about 4-5 Teslas in the entire week of driving. In California, about 25% of the cars on the road are Tesla. Even two of my friend overpaid their Model 3 ($70k) to drive them, one living in an apartment, the other in a mobile home. California tech hippies.

Layoffs are common in manufacturing, especially in the automobile industry. I grew up in metro Detroit, the home of the big three U.S. auto companies. From the late sixties and onward , layoffs when common. If sales were falling, or there was the slightest economic downturn, workers lost their jobs. Finally many of the factories closed, leaving thousands of people out of work.

Wow, 10 out of 100 people at the Cyprus dealership laid off with a 60d severance, will Houston ever be able to recover from this hard hit? Thoughts and prayers!

This is why we need unions. This could have never happened to a union employee. At the very least they would have received a 60 day notice to start preparing for another job

The worst part is they didn’t offer any severance package.
@brandyjohnАй бұрын
Well, they're getting 2 months' severance pay. Many companies give 2 weeks pays, or nothing at all. They should be able to find something in 2 months, and they can also apply for unemployment in the meantime. Companies are not charities. Their primary focus is always going to be their bottom line. God is the only one in this world that we can trust to never let us down or fail us. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He'll make a way when there's no way.🕊

That’s a pretty sorry way to lay people off. You could at least call them in your office and talk to them and lay them off not having to show up for work and be locked out. Plus, he should have to pay every single one of them that came from another state to relocate them and give them all huge layoff bonuses.

Prob bc ppl got a dose of reality with the snow storms hit and then the charging station was word that the gash shortage 🤣 ... this is why I was all about the old skool cars. The battery tech isn't there yet and now ppl know why. Batteries are not good in extreme temps -hot or cold. So unless you live in the best weather temps available, reality will hit you hard.
