This is a remake of the Houston Rockets’ old defense drum from 1995 to 1997. This was played at The Summit (later Compaq Center and now, the Lakewood Church) in Houston, Texas. It made its debut during the second half of the 1994-95 NBA season, the season when the Rockets won their 2nd NBA championship.
For those wondering what I am referring to, here is the link to a video I posted, • Houston Rockets' Defen... and then, fast forward to 0:41.
HOW I MADE IT:
To be honest, I thought that this was going to be straightforward but it took a while to figure it how it sounded based on what I heard from old Rockets games, so I hope that I was able to create something nearly identical to what the City of Houston and sports fans around the world once heard.
This remake was created through GarageBand and Audacity. On GarageBand, the instruments that I used were kick drums from their LinnDrum electronic drum kit and Portland drum set. Also, I sampled the intro drum of Richard Marx’s hit song, "Summer Nights.” Finally, I aligned them together on Audacity while constantly re-watching the old Rockets games to capture the correct beat rhythm. I made like four versions of this remake, but this is the final one.
IN THE VIDEO:
The video also contains photos of several players from the Rockets’ history: Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, Otis Thorpe, Sam Cassell, Mario Elie, Carl Herrera, Robert Horry, Scottie Brooks, Pete Chilcutt, Matt Bullard, Charles Barkley, Kevin Willis, Eddie Johnson, Othella Harrington, Matt Maloney, Mark Bryant, and head coach Rudy Tomjanovich.
