I think this is a great addition for content creators who mainly use their iPhone. Quick and easy. I have ordered one and will be interested to see how the quality compares to the iPhone and whether you can improve it by upscaling it to 4K in the VN Editor. Great review. Thank you.

Great post! I just started my first using mine today. Got the 3 battery Plus kit. It’s very intuitive right out of the box. My main interest has been the voice recording/noise cancellation but not sure which specific modes that’s available in, hopefully all of them, mainly Follow, and Dolly Track! It’s not as loud as I expected. I will be using it along with my Mini 3 & 4 Pros.Thanks for all the info, can’t wait to fly more! Keep up the great content!

Do you know if you can connect to drone by phone, change settings, then disconnect from phone and record then be able to transfer usbc to let’s say usbc to iPad and transfer videos off bypassing the hover app?

Sure you can do that using manual mode but remember the range and hight is limited.

What adjustments/effects did you use to make the environment looked blurry/ouf of focus on 0:35 ?? I use capcut as my main editing software.

I use a plugin from motion vfx called film look that adds a blur to the edges but you can simply use gaussian blur to do that with a mask applied on most editing apps

First, great video as always. Love the SDSU cap. Keep repping it for us here in San Diego brother! As for the drone, I'm on the fence... mainly because of the price. $400 is a lot to stomach for the camera quality it offers. For social media it's fine, but for KZfaq (if you care about video quality like you are), it looks like you have to do a lot of work in post to make it look acceptable. Perhaps you could comment a little bit on this a bit more... are you just adding your LUT, or are you doing a little bit more? Also here in the U.S. to fly this drone and post videos for profit you need a Part 107 cert, but what you ALSO need is remote ID which this drone does not have... and I seriously doubt could take the weight of an aftermarket RID module. So, it's limited to rec/hobby use and social media. For anyone curious about the laws regarding flying the HoverAir X1, just look at what you need to fly the DJI Mini -- it's no different from the FAA's POV. For profit, you need Part 107, register the drone, and have RID. Honestly, I see no reason why this drone would need RID, but that's the FAA law even if it's considered a "selfie camera" with limited range. IMHO, the most important part of flying this drone for profit is the Part 107 cert and drone registration as I don't think the FAA is going to truly enforce RID until March 16 2024: www.faa.gov/newsroom/faa-extends-remote-id-enforcement-date-six-months I would pull the plug on this drone if it was $200. For $400 I would expect better camera quality and RID. Looking forward to the X2 :)

Hey Chris, thanks for the support and sharing your thoughts! I did some minor adjustments in the highlights, mid tones and shadows and applied the LUT and adjusted the intensity. Works great with Rec709 footage. I didn't know these requirements were in place. Thx for sharing. Regarding the quality, you could upscale the video in 4k. Can’t wait to see what they have next on line. Let's keep an eye out for the X2! 🚁😊

Yes, here in the US the FAA considers this sub-250g drone no different than the DJI Mini. The problem is that it has no RID and I doubt could handle an aftermarket module.

The concept of this drone is incredible. For me, the quality isn't good enough to be useable. If they can put a better sensor on a future edition, I'll pick one up for sure.

I just bought the X1 and the footage is way too bright and for the combo it's $516 . I like the simplicity but there is no way it touches the cheapest DJI drone... Nice video as always

I just purchased this drone, and I like it! But there are pros and cons. On the positive side, it does most of what it says it does; on the negative side, there is only a 10 or 12-minute battery life, even though it comes with two batteries, and it takes up to 4 hours to charge 1 battery. I see the advertising showing people getting followed on their bikes; I guess the bike ride is less than 10 minutes long. There is minimal instruction on how to use it; also, when sharing the video or picture, it's not as clear as the original. I had to research KZfaq to find out how to work things; with that being said, I give it a 7.5 out of 10 rating.
