Lukaku has a gift for languages.. he speaks great Italian too!

in fact he speaks 9 (more or less) languages. the UEFA gives reporters the list of languages that players and coaches speak so the reporters can choose to ask their questions in one of the listed on. Lukaku is reported to be able to do interview in up to 9 languages.

Africans heritage people generally are far more multilingual compared to people from Western or Asian countries because most Africans can speak at least 3 languages.

Joey Barton haha :) Bellerin (not Bellarin - but from a Spurs fan it's understandable :) and Raya are impressive but Catalan has more English sounds than Spanish so they are generally better speakers of English. A great video as usual.

No, his accent is really good. But it's not without a Spanish accent. Listen carefully, he says ""ass -a team" and not "azz-a team" like a native speaker would say

I clicked on this just to make sure Louis van Gaal was NOT part of this list lmao! 🤣🤣 (I'm Dutch btw, so know him and his reputation in foreign languages very well lol) Also, I think it's hardly possible as a foreigner to speak English 'like a real British resident'. I know people from my country who have lived in the UK for yéars and they still say people can tell you're not really British. It's like I read once about Michael C Hall's attempt to speak British in the series Safe. To me it sounded extremely convincing, but I read British people tend to immediately scan where in the UK you come from and even your social class background by the way you speak and the accent you have. Since Michael C Hall spoke British in a way that you couldn't pinpoint where his accent came from, apparently it's perceived as odd.

I love football, and I love English, even though I don't live in England, my English teacher is from Newcastle, so I kind of got her northern English accent, it's not a really A Newcastle accent, which is kind of similar to a Scottish accent, but just that Yorkshire English accent, and it's really cool.

If she’s from Newcastle, in England we would describe her as Geordie or having a Geordie accent.

I find it interesting and am curious why english players that go abroad or just english speakers in general have a hard time learning foreign languages or just simply dont bother to learn. Not just brits but americans as well. Then it’s normal to see others being fluent in multiple languages that aren’t necessarily similar neither. One that really surprised me recently was a english player Marcus Edwards, who plays for my club Sporting in Portugal, he did a podcast made by the club in english, they tried to get him to speak PT a little and he literally didn’t even know the very basics like step 1 basics even though he’s lived there for 3 years now.

Think its because having English as 1st language can be a bit of a blessing as well as a curse. Because it is so widely spoken to a decent degree it is quite possible to travel abroad or even live in some countries without knowing the language. Which then means that lots of Brits don’t really place much emphasis on learning languages unfortunately. But on the other hand you have Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham who are thriving in Italy and speak the language fairly well.

English is the most widely spoken second language. I grew up in Britain, but my Cantonese is poor because the Brits have almost zero need to learn a foreign language unless they go to a foreign country or work with non-English speakers

The first football player pronunces time, beggining and like as any spanish without much pronunciation training would do. You called that MLE accent, but for me he sounds as any basic english speaker spanish. I'm spanish 😉 I'm not saying he speakes basically, don't get me wrong, he speaks amazing, but that particulary sounds are common amongst spanish while speaking in english
