Michael Trotter Jr. explains how the phrase "five more minutes," came to mean the difference between life and death. His wife Tanya Blount Trotter then joins him on stage to perform music that celebrates love, sacrifice, and the power of resilience. Since forming in 2014, The War And Treaty have amassed a following as eclectic as their sound itself: a bluesy but joyful fusion of Southern soul, gospel, country, and rock-and-roll. Known for a live show nearly revival-like in intensity, the husband-and-wife team of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount-Trotter endlessly create an exhilarating exchange of energy with their audience, a dynamic they’ve brought to the stage touring with the likes of Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, and John Legend. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

These two are one soul. Very few, very very few, ever find that. Thank God for that five minutes.

Blessings. We recieved news today that our 22 year old son is safe in Poland after spending the last month in Ukraine on a volunteer search and rescue mission. He has seen alot and helped many, finding those trapped in rubble, with only a few getting to see another day. We worry about him. Thank you for your honesty, your bravery goes way beyond your military service. God bless you.

Thank you Heavenly Father for allowing me to discover this TEDxNashville! This ted talk Blessed me today; for, i too am a Veteran who had 5 minutes of LOVE by their Spouse, Family, and Community to change their lives and continues to live within that circle of LOVE, support, and every 5 minutes given each and every 24 hours of the day!!! I am grateful for Brother at Arms Michel Trotter Jr. and his Family Loving Wife, Son, Daughter, Extended Immediate Family Members and Community!!! Thank you for the Producers of TEDxNashville! GRATEFUL for all those who laid down their lives in the fight for FREEDOM, those who fought, came home, and still fight daily, with the injuries of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (me inclusive) for FREEDOM, and those yet on the battlefields now yet fighting the battles for FREEDOM!!! Thank YOU!!! May The Almighty Heavenly Father continue to uphold each of you and your family members in and with His mighty Hand.

I've been a fan from the 1st time I saw them, many performances ago. I've turned on a lot of people to them, but, can never get through telling them the "5 More Minutes" story without choking up. Each time I see them perform that song, the tears come to my eyes, but, are overcome with the joy they bring each time. By the end of the song, you can't help but feel consumed with the love they share.

I live in Battle Creek, Michigan which is also in Calhoun County like Albion. I work for Battle Creek Community Foundation and we partner with the Albion community on various projects. Thank you for your service for sure. I was so moved by your words and songs. It is 2am and you've encouraged me to make the decision to get the help I need.

Saw their emotional performances 7 times on a music tour we did in 2018. It was a joy to see their love and that extended to all in the audience. It is an amazing life story so far Michael but you and Tanya have much to give the world. Love to you and the band from Melbourne Australia
