archer, my man. you have single-handedly revolutionised my approach to study in a matter of a few videos. I've started structuring my study predominantly around active recall via inquiry based learning, and focusing on building relationships and connections and I swear, so much is finally making sense. chem, for example, I've realised is seriously just a few key concepts that all tie together and im finally understanding WHY all these different subtopics and applications are relevant. i also started using notion as a retrospective timetable and it is cutting down so much on the time i unnecessarily spend on already strong topics. even my use of prac exams has changed so much. i feel like there's so much more potential for improvement now, when before i felt like i had just reached my limit and couldn't get any better. you're a legend and thank you :))))

@@prabhatgautam7888 i do maths methods + spec, chemistry, italian and english literature (from wa), and i've seriously only started changing up my study methods less than a week ago haha!

+ You should prioritise your weaknesses and plan carefully! Do not go in chronological order when learning content. + Use stars (3 stars if you feel great, and 1 star if you definitely need to learn the specific content). + One week grace period --> Majority of Practice Paper --> Go reverse! You need to hit your deadlines and make sacrifices if necessary. Work backwards so that you do what you intended to get done + Find relationships between content and different ways of applying it. --> Box analogy ~ if you are looking at a book from the same angle all the time, you will only see that POV and no other ways. If you do practice questions + teach someone, you can get new angles on it and get an idea of what the box really looks like. + You need to dissect why you made a mistake.

Hey archer, thank you so much for the video I am def one of those past paper kind of students. A little anecdote I finished the whole course of my year 12 subject which I was doing pin yr 11 in the holidays. Throughout the year I did upwards of 120 past papers, and only ended up getting a 44/50 instead of the 48-50 I expected. I will definitely watch these study slash exam tip vids more intently so I can capitalise on more subjects in yr 12. Your input is much appreciated brother.

Just got a 97% in my chemistry test (my highest chemistry mark ever) and I did it with nearly half the work and using effective study techniques like the ones mentioned in this video. Thankyou :) you're changing academics for the better

@@jfkf1lms basically for remembering different molecules and ions I use flash cards and sometimes for the formulas when I'm first learning something. Sometimes I make mind maps to understand how everything relates in chemistry because I found just doing the questions made it difficult to understand what you were doing sometimes. But really the best thing is lots of practice questions but with a variety of different ones. Your teacher is your best friend though, if you get ever stumped or unsure of why you're doing steps for a question just ask them for help even if you're embarassed, it'll make life 1000x easier. Loved the examples of knowing if I know the concept well. Examples completes the idea 🤩 Teaching Brain dumb Active recall through flashcards etc Mind mapping Practice questions Thought experiments Elaborative Interrogation Inquiry based learning ❤️

I've been binge watching your videos since yesterday (and left comments on quite a few of them) and the learning techniques you talk about in your videos are just eye opening, but I have one question though. Shall I be attending lectures or studying things myself to get most out of the efficienct learning techniques you mentioned like chunking and various inquiry based learning techniques (I've been attending lectures, making linear notes and just rereading them just before an exam for my whole life now. And hence I'm forced to study at leat 8-9 hours a day including the time I spend attending lectures)

Initially it will be hard to not attend lectures at all, because that's the method of learning you're used to. It's probably best to pre-study and then attend the lectures, while still practicing inquiry based learning (if lectures are recorded you can pause when you have questions, then find the answer and keep watching). Hope that answers your question!

I would recommend 5 at max for most subjects, anymore than that and it's just inefficient :)
